The left-wingers want a Palestinian state presided by Hamas, but in Palestine the leaders continue using the old barbaric and backward labor labor of the Ottoman Empire, and then in their newspaper they have spent their whole life talking about workers rights, isn’t that a contradiction ? A new Palestinian republic and state is just the continuation of the capitalist exploitation. They are not very well informed

December 7, 2024 at 1:21 pm #255517robbo203ParticipantVery interesting – and comprehensive – article by Craig Murray on developments in the Middle East. Also something on how it´s impacting the local Muslim community in the UK…
“A truly seismic change in the Middle East appears to be happening very fast. At its heart is a devil’s bargain – Turkey and the Gulf States accept the annihilation of the Palestinian nation and creation of a Greater Israel, in return for the annihilation of the Shia minorities of Syria and Lebanon and the imposition of Salafism across the Eastern Arab world.
This also spells the end for Lebanon and Syria’s Christian communities, as witness the tearing down of all Christmas decorations, the smashing of all alcohol and the forced imposition of the veil on women in Aleppo now.”

…………………
Possibly so -although it has to be said that the situation with the Assad regime is not looking good. The rebels have captured Aleppo and Hama and there has apparently been rebel activity on the outskirts of Damascus. Russia has scaled back on its support for the regime because of the Ukraine situation and of course, Hezbollah has been badly damaged in the war with Israel
Murray is basically saying there is a chance the regime may be soon overthrown. I wouldn’t rule it out completely…

December 7, 2024 at 8:11 pm #255532CitizenoftheworldParticipantDonald Trump has said that as soon as he takes office on January 20 2025 he is going to bring hell to the Middle East, if hostages are not released.
In 1965 Lyndon B Johson sent 50,000 marines to the Caribbeans to pick up several USA tourists that were drinking rum and coke at the beach, and the rescue operation left more than 10,000 people dead, one dictator and the complete destructions of all workers unions and progressive organizations and journalists, and they were looking for communists and the communists were invisibles and did not have a communist party, despite all their military hardware they had to negotiate with the rebels that were backed by the workers
The thing is that the time of WW2, and post war when the USA was able to kick ass all around the world does not exist any more, and several powerful military powers have also emerged and there is a world realignment of forces that might respond back with the same military power
The USA has been defeated several times after WW2, and its world hegemony is declining, and it is not longer an industrial might as during WW2, the real industrial might is China. War is not only terrorism with a bigger budget but it also require continuous industrial production.
Several countries in Latin America have rejected his geopolitical and hegemonic plans including the so called war against drugs, and others have said that they are going to accelerate and increase their commercial cooperations with China, and the Chinese capitalists are constructing a mega port in Peru
The promises made on the political campaign of ending the wars are not going to be fulfilled including Ukraine, and the Russians are the one that are dominating the situation, it is not going to be a 24 hours negotiations coming out from the mouth of a demagogue
Workers have been fooled again, and workers are the real losers

Details of the ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel. It is not what the capitalist press has published, it gives carte blanche to Israel to do whatever they want in the region, and it was made to provide some legacy to Joe Biden

Unending Barbarism: The Causes that Led to the Middle East CrisisOne of the questions that the most astute observers asked themselves after the tragic attack of 7 October, and throughout the period of Israel’s response in this devastating war, was and is: “how is it possible that the secret services of Tel Aviv did not know about Hamas’ attack?”. Is it conceivable that Mossad and Shin Bet, which are seen as the most efficient secret services in the world, capable of organising targeted assassinations of the military and political leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah, remained completely in the dark about the whole thing? How can we explain that these secret services even managed to kill the head of Hamas in Tehran with a surgical strike, knowing in advance where, when and how it would be possible to carry out an undertaking that seemed almost impossible? Not to mention the meticulous efficiency with which they managed to tamper with the supply chain of pagers which Hezbollah purchased in an attempt to avoid the identification of its militants through their mobile phones. In particular, Mossad has always monitored, day and night, the military and political movements of its enemies in the Gaza Strip as well as in the West Bank, ready to intervene at the slightest suspicion of a suicide attack, let alone an attack of that magnitude which, presumably, had months, if not at least a year, of gestation.
The shocking answer is simple: Mossad and Shin Bet were perfectly aware that a Hamas attack against Israel was coming. Are these just suppositions or cheap conspiracy theories? No, there is documentary evidence that, once made public, was played down, reduced to little more than vague unfounded hypotheses and then, by preventing its circulation, removed from the international press and forgotten.

Deliberately depriving Palestinians of water constitutes genocide, says Human Right Watch report
December 27, 2024 at 10:21 am #255958ALBKeymasterWhy there are so many civilian casualties in Gaza:
So middle-ranking officers in the Israeli killing machine are authorised to kill up to 20 civilians just to kill one ordinary Hamas fighter, such as the fighters’ family and neighbours. And have been on a mass scale.
No doubt they are authorised to kill 100 or more to try to kill a Hamas commander. And will have done.
By anybody’s standards this is deliberate and planned mass murder .
Who says Zionist Israel can’t be compared with Nazi Germany?
December 27, 2024 at 5:09 pm #255960CitizenoftheworldParticipantIsrael has continued dropping bombs and killing civilians in the Middle East after the so called peace agreement was signed and after the government of Syria was overthrown.
There are reports indicating that some Nazis generals did not want to destroy Paris during WW2 and Israel has destroyed Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and several historical places in the Middle East, and they have killed thousands of civilians, and they continue taking more territories. Probably the slogan from the river to the sea is applicable to them
In errors some German pilots bombed London and England responded bombing Berlin and Hitler was surprised about the attack, although some historians are saying that both reports are not true, but I think that the Zionists are as bad as the German Nazis
