Trump unites Iran
Not so long ago, our blog was reporting the grassroots opposition to the Iranian government and the repressive actions of Soleimani’s Revolutionary Guards

January 5, 2020 at 9:06 am #192628ALBKeymasterThe argument advanced by the US regime for the assassination, of an immediate danger to American lives is quite specious. If there was an immediate danger that would mean that it was about to happen, so how would killing the top person in the plan stop it? Presumably the plan was so advanced that it did not depend just on one person being alive. If he died or was killed his deputy could just step in and press the button as it were. The fact he didn’t shows that there was no immediate plan.
No doubt there was a plan and still is as the US (and Israel) and Iran are already at undeclared war with each other over who should control the oil resources of the Middle East and the trade routes and pipelines to move it out to other parts of the world.
It is just that to respect the letter of the piece of paper that is the part of the UN charter making war illegal the state engaging in acts of war has to justify its action by invoking one of its let-out clauses such as immediate danger to life or vital interest at stake.
But then we know that truth is the first casualty of war.

January 5, 2020 at 12:02 pm #192632J SurmanParticipantHere’s an interesting ‘explanation’ of the word imminent from Craig Murray, former UK ambassador to Uzbekistan, referring back to the Bethlehem Doctrine (Daniel Bethlehem -anyone remember him?)
Lies, the Bethlehem Doctrine, and the Illegal Murder of Soleimani
January 5, 2020 at 12:24 pm #192633AnonymousInactiveIt is also called: Targeted Killing which is a term created by Israel, and they are also behind the killing of Soleimani, the USA just pulled the trigger.
This new action creates the precedent to assassinate the head of any state including presidents, instead of killing them secretive like in the past, it would be done openly, therefore, any president which opposes the USA or Israel can be a target.
That statement of Senator Elizabeth Warren clearly shows that the so-called progressive politicians of the USA are warmongers like anybody else, and anyone of them elected as president would start a war to defend the interest of the US capitalist class. The market always prevails.
Lyndon B Johnson sent 50,000 Marines to the Dominican Republic in 1965 to pick some tourists that were drinking rum and cokes in the beaches of Boca Chica and more than 10,000 peoples were killed to save an American life.
Pompeo and Pence have not declared publicly that this Iranian general came to prominence when he was involved in the Iran-Iraq war which produces the death of more than 1 million Iranian, a war which was also supported by the USA, and also he provided military intelligence to the USA during the war against Afghanistan
January 5, 2020 at 1:10 pm #192637AnonymousInactiveDuring the war between Iraq and Iran several countries around the world including France, the Soviet Union, China, and North Korea provided weapons to both sides involved in the conflict, and also the USA provided weapons to Iran,
The USA government headed by Ronald Reagan violated a federal mandate which was also known as the Iran-Contra scandals and they made alliance with drugs dealers from Colombia to sell drugs in the poor neighbourhood of the USA to obtain funding for the war in Nicaragua and to finance the Iran Contra which was a bunch of terrorists and drugs dealers.
The Soviet Union also sold weapons to the government of Nicaragua and mines were placed in the territory of that country by the USA and still many peasants and children have lost part of their bodies extremities when the mines have exploded, and the killers were nominated heroes by the USA congress
The operation was conducted by Collin Powell and OliverNorth, that operation was also headed by Negroponte who became the ambassador of Iraq after the 2001 war against Iraq.
The book which was written by the journalists Gary Webs known as the Dark Alliance shows all these dirty manoeuvres.
Whoever does not read history will always fall in the same trap and will not be able to see that capitalists are like prostitutes they play both sides of any conflict
January 5, 2020 at 1:45 pm #192638ALBKeymasterAh, I see now. They are saying that “imminent” is the same as “immanent”. Perhaps it is in their warped minds.
January 5, 2020 at 2:02 pm #192639alanjjohnstoneKeymasterIf “imminent”, then you would imagine officials would be on stand-by to deal with any possible crisis.
Mark Esper, Secretary of Defense: No public or media events.
David Norqust, Deputy Sec. of Defense: No public or media events.
Mark Miley, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff: No public or media events.
John Hyten, Vice chair Joint Chiefs of Staff: No public or media events.January 5, 2020 at 2:14 pm #192640AnonymousInactiveIf they remove Donald Trump he is going to be replaced by Mike Pence who holds the same political and economic view as any other USA politician and president, and probably he might be worse than Trump, and he is also a religious fanatic, and if they remove both, they are going to be replaced by Nancy Pelosi which is also a warmonger. It does show to the Anti-Trumpists ( including some members of the left and prominent intellectuals ) that the problem is not Trump, the problem is world capitalism
January 5, 2020 at 2:41 pm #192641AnonymousInactiveI wonder how the Christian right is going to explain their support for Donald Trump ( known as god chosen one ) and Mike Pence because according to the view of the Christians, they belong to a religion of peace, harmony and love to humanity. and that governments represent god law and order on earth

I doubt that they will leave voluntarily, they are still stationed in Germany and Japan wherever the Yankees place their boots they never leave, except in Vietnam where they were forced to leave. They left from the islands of Vieques and Culebra and they came back again, and the whole population of Vieques is suffering from cancer and the sea life is mutating due to the target and training practice using lead, orange agent, and depleted uranium. They placed their boots in Puerto Rico, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic and they have never left despite the opposition of the peoples from those countries. They are called technical advisers carrying machines guns
January 5, 2020 at 11:39 pm #192647alanjjohnstoneKeymasterIranian-Americans were detained at the U.S.-Canada border and questioned about their “political views and allegiances”. Those detained were returning from an Iranian pop concert that took place in Vancouver.
An anonymous source from Customs and Border Protection (CBP), alleged that “the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a national order to CBP to ‘report’ and detain anyone with Iranian heritage entering the country who is deemed potentially suspicious or ‘adversarial,’ regardless of citizenship status.”
What next? Internment camps?
