We all remember the fuss when an Iranian leader suggested Israel should be wiped from the map. Strange why Trump can get away with threatening the “official end of Iran”

Meanwhile Saudi Arabia joins in the sabre rattling

May 20, 2019 at 12:43 am #186485AnonymousInactiveYou know, he is the king and the king can do whatever he wants, and he has servants and sheep to follow him and to approve everything that the king says and does. He accuses others leaders of corruptions, and he surrounded by corrupted peoples, he accused others government of robbing and he is surrounded by thieves, he accuses other leaders to be dictator and he has the power of a world dictator, he can bully anybody and nobody can bully him, and he is racist and there is law that prohibit racial discrimination but he can violate it, etc. etc. etc. and he has millions of peoples who are supporting him. He said that he can kill or shoot a person in 5th avenue and nothing will happen to him, and he will not lose voters. They just want a white buffalo. The USA is one of the most reactionary country that exists around the world
May 20, 2019 at 7:30 am #186488ZJWParticipantActually no Iran leader said that ‘Israel’ should be ‘wiped from the map’. Here (among other places) you can read all about the mistranslation and what was actually said:
May 20, 2019 at 8:44 am #186489alanjjohnstoneKeymasterMany thanks. It needed to be said. I was aware of that, ZJW.
I was just contrasting attitudes presented by the media. Nor do I believe Trump is advocating the genocidal destruction of Iran.
We have seen many countries wiped from the map…and created on the map.

“…The Pentagon will present plans to the White House to send up to 10,000 more troops to the Middle East, in a move to beef up defenses against potential Iranian threats…”

Those attacks on oil-tankers could be false flag incidents by Saudi Arabia/Israel (take your conspiratorial pick) to provoke war with Iran.
Or alternatively a defensive gesture by Iran demonstrating the vulnerability of the Straits of Hormuz if full scale conflict was to break up.
Or a terrorist third-party action intended to take advantage of the turmoil of another Middle East war.
I won’t commit as yet since one thing lacking is any evidence or proof other than allegations.
But one thing is for sure, it is an unsettling development that could well lead to open war that would inevitably escalate and spread.
June 14, 2019 at 2:06 am #188216AnonymousInactiveCheck history and you will see how many times the USA has initiated a war due to the sinking of a ship from the USA or another nation
June 14, 2019 at 11:49 am #188219AnonymousInactiveAnyone elected has to pursue the interests of the principal capitalists of the state, whichever nation state s/he is president/pm of.
Even were Sanders to become president, he too would have to rattle the sabre, or resign.

June 14, 2019 at 11:08 pm #188228alanjjohnstoneKeymasterHaving read numerous articles on the supposed laying of limpet mines by Iran, I only came across this one report that casts doubt upon it and it is from one of the oil tanker’s owners
“We received reports that something flew towards the ship,” said Yutaka Katada, president of Kokaku Sangyo Co. at a press conference. “The place where the projectile landed was significantly higher than the water level, so we are absolutely sure that this wasn’t a torpedo. I do not think there was a time bomb or an object attached to the side of the ship.”
June 15, 2019 at 12:53 am #188229AnonymousInactiveThey used drones. Who has drones in that area ? Who has drones to hit others countries and leaders around the world ?
What are the USA warships looking for in that area ?
Only idiots can believe that torpedos were used, a torpedo would have sunk the ships completely. Why is Iran going to hit his own customers like Japan ?
Torpedo belong to WWII, now they use missiles, and they can sink a battleship immediately
June 15, 2019 at 11:03 am #188232alanjjohnstoneKeymasterJune 19, 2019 at 3:27 am #188281alanjjohnstoneKeymasterMy favourite war correspondent on Iran, Robert Fisk
“…Personally, I suspect the Iranians have been up to their old mining tricks in the Gulf…The Iranians, who have always understood the west much better than the west has ever understood the Iranians, know very well how to deny a drone here and a limpet mine there while ever more diligently tugging another feather or two out of the American eagle. The Iranians are no innocents. There are no good guys in this story…”
June 21, 2019 at 10:35 am #188323alanjjohnstoneKeymasterBack from the very brink
“…Planes were in the air and ships were in position, but no missiles had been fired when word came to stand down…”
