Written by William T. Hathaway, adjunct professor of American Studies at the University of Oldenburg, Germany, this is a call for revolution to overthrow capitalism in favour of socialism and finishes with this: “It means organising a mass political movement based in the working class that will overthrow capitalism and build democratic socialism.”

I posted a comment advising of our website because anyone remotely in agreement with the article will want to find more on the topic but it has to go via the moderator as they have had some abusive comments of late on this site.

I looked him up.  His main stand is an anti-war one.  He belongs to an organisation that provides a European refuge for American military deserters.  He also seems to have a strong religious view (to judge by one of his novels.)

I don’t think he’s into religion as such but more into eastern philosophy and meditation. That aside it’s very refreshing to read such an article.

A related article is this one on the Arab Spring and how it has been thwarted. http://www.counterpunch.org/2012/04/13/whatever-happened-to-the-arab-spring/ It too ends in a stirring conclusion. “Only through a coordinated cross-border struggle for peace and economic justice can the workers and other popular masses bring the worldwide production of goods and provision of services to a standstill, and restructure the status quo for a better world—a world in which the products of human labor and the bounties of Nature could benefit all.”
