An interesting article although its significance is not what it might seem….

It is referring to spatial inequalities between countries rather than within countries. The rise of the newly industrializing countries has shifted the balance of wealth from the old metropolitan core countries to the Global South and the BRICS nations. This has implications for the theory of imperialism obviously. The rise of reverse imperialism in the case of China for example with its extensive investments abroad…

Inequality within countries is rising mind you

“Between the lines: The part of that number due to inequality within countries has ticked up slightly — it now stands at about 13, up from 7 in the 1990s. Conversely, the component due to inequality between countries plunged from a high of 63 in 1988 to just 47 in 2018.”
