What are people’s thoughts on the anti-extradition protests in Hong Kong which erupted recently? There seems to be something of a revival of the 2014 democracy protests / Umbrella Movement, with protesters seeking to retain a degree of legal and political independence from authoritarian China. To what extent, if any, can the protests be seen as part of the ‘fight for democracy’ that formed the basis of the 2014 events? And to what extent do they have a working-class content, especially in light of the gross inequalities and cost of living, etc., in Hong Kong?
