The financial crisis in the US officially began in September 2008, but the first mass street response arose in September 2011 with the Occupy Wall Street movement. Since then Strike Debt, a debt resistors' organization, emerged out of Occupy. George Caffentzis will discuss debt resistance as a working class project and the prospects of Strike Debt in the context of previous debt resistance movements.

*George Caffentzis* is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southern Maine. He was a founding member of the Midnight Notes Collective and coordinator of the Committee for Academic Freedom in Africa. He is the author and editor of many books and articles, his latest is In Letters of Blood and Fire: Work, Machines and the Crisis of Capitalism (PM Press: Feb 2013)
