Talking informally with someone from UKIP before our debate against them on Wednesday they said they were relieved, from a political point of view, by Bob Crow's death since they had been afraid that his No2EU might take votes from them. I don't think Scargill will but No2EU is a title that sums up what UKIP's basic policy is.
April 2, 2014 at 12:32 pm #99487ALBKeymasterThe London office of the European Parliament has now added us to the lists contesting the South East Region:http://www.europarl.org.uk/en/european_elections/candidates2014.htmlSo has the wikipedia entry for this constituency:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_East_England_%28European_Parliament_constituency%29Wikipedia also mentions that we will contesting the Wales Region:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wales_%28European_Parliament_constituency%29

And good too that there are links to the wikipedia entry for the Party which amongst things indicates that it is the second-oldest extant political party in the UK :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist_Party_of_Great_Britainand a link also to this particular thread :http://www.worldsocialism.org/spgb/forum/world-socialist-movement/euroelection-candidates
April 7, 2014 at 6:57 am #99489ALBKeymasterThe EC decided on Saturday to "Go for a Million" by upping the number of areas (Westminster parliamentary constituencies) where we take advantage of the free postal distribution from an earlier 14 to 20.The constituencies to be covered (from North to South and from West to East) are: Milton Keynes North, Oxford East, Oxford West & Abingdon, Reading East, Slough, Southampton Itchen, Southampton Test, Portsmouth North, Brighton Kemptown, Brighton Pavilion, Crawley, Dartford, Gravesham, Chatham & Aylesford, Maidstone & the Weald, Sittingbourne & Sheppey, Hastings & Rye, Canterbury, Follestone & Hythe, Dover. There are about 980,000 electors in these areas, the remaining 20,000 (maybe more) will be distributed in other areas door-to-door or at literature stalls by members and sympathisers. As there are just over 4 million electors in the South East Region, this means that some 25 percent of electors in the area will receive our election leaflet. We will be doing our best to get our message across to as many others as possible through media publicity

April 17, 2014 at 5:36 am #99490ALBKeymasterThe nominations and deposit were handed in to the Returning Officer in Southampton yesterday and accepted. While I was there I came across a SPEW literature stall and gave them a few of our election leaflets. One said "but that's the same name as us" (yes, it is). I also managed to establish that No2EU won't be standing in the South East Region. Not enough money, they said but they weren't keen on that title anyway and their priority seems to be to get a local Labour councillor who defected to TUSC re-elected.
April 17, 2014 at 4:57 pm #99492ALBKeymasterIt seems likely that the so-called Harmony Party will be standing. They were registered on 1 April, but the variants of their name don't sound very harmonious (unless they are an April Fool):

Anybody know?

April 24, 2014 at 8:16 am #99496ALBKeymasterHere is our election leaflet for general distribution (anywhere in the UK):
April 24, 2014 at 4:49 pm #99497ALBKeymasterWe now know who we're up against. Nominations closed at 4pm and the Returning Officer has just published the list of the parties standing. There are 15 (same as last time, in 2009).Apart from the usual suspects (Tories, Labour, Liberal, Green, UKIP, BNP), there's the Christians Peoples Party, the English Democrats, the Peace Party and the Roman Party (a joke party) who stood last time. New are the Harmony Party, Your Voice, Liberty Great Britain (real "revolutionary" fascists) and "An Independence for Europe" list (rumoured to be a Tory party dirty trick to draw votes from UKIP as they did once before when they put up a "Literal Democrat" candidate).Unlike last time there is no Scargill Labour Party or No2EU list. Which means that we are the only list using the word "socialist", i.e no jokes about the Peoples Front for Judea and the Judean People's Front.

It's pathetic.
April 24, 2014 at 7:10 pm #99499ALBKeymasterThis should put you in a better mood (perhaps):
April 24, 2014 at 9:55 pm #99500HollyHeadParticipantThat outdated logo should really read "Half the world for the workers". That is what it depicts.
