The ability to settle and sell my labour power in countries other than the UK is, to me at least, a reform worth wanting.

The issue on the EU is not about no borders (we see how that can easily be suspended) Nor about movement of labour (we also see how national states can impose restrictions on access to entitlements) It is not about a step towards the end of nations (we witness that with Fortess Europe regards migration)The EU is about being living in a larger prison cell, making the jail that holds us a bit bigger.

Only if someone holds a gun to our head and says you've got to choose either IN or OUT !But of course we're not in that position and don't have to choose either of the two options on offer. That said, I don't think we lose anything by accepting that the relative free movement of labour that the common labour market has brought about was a small advantage for workers, even if not enough to vote IN. On the other hand, I can't see a single advantage of OUT and the big disadvantage of it stoking up British nationalism.

That is the motion submitted by NLB to conference this year. Whilst the freedom of movement for EU workers is an increase in our freedom, it only extends to the EU's boundaries, and doesn't represent an increase in freedom for workers in Asia or Africa, and this is a worldscale question.  But it'll be nice t debate it out at conference.The question is should we registeras a for/against campaign?

And no jailbreak is going to happen anytime soon. So I think a bigger jail is still a reform that is worth wanting.Though I appreciate that an in / out referendum does not say anything about what the conditions of the staying or leaving would be.
