Greek government tries to deny responsibility for hundreds of migrant drownings
The sinking of a fishing vessel packed with refugees 50 miles south-west of the Greek town of Pylos is likely to be the worst loss of migrant lives in the country.
In June 2016, at least 320 people were listed as dead or missing after a vessel sank near Greece’s largest island, Crete. Authorities have recovered 78 bodies from the latest tragedy so far, but reports suggest 500-750 people were on board and only 104 survivors have been found more than 24 hours later.

Experts warned of potentially catastrophic problems with OceanGate submersible at extreme depths
Details have emerged that experts made many warnings about the unsafe condition of the OceanGate submersible that suffered an implosion in the North Atlantic and killed all five people on board shortly after it submerged last Sunday.

Major pieces of debris from the 22-foot-long Titan vessel, including the tail cone, were found on the ocean floor on Thursday morning about 1,600 feet from the bow of the steamship RMS Titanic, which sank to the bottom of the ocean in 1912 and was the subject of the OceanGate expedition. The debris field of the OceanGate submersible was discovered by a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and was “consistent with catastrophic loss of the pressure chamber,” according to Rear Admiral John Mauger of the US Coast Guard.

Capitalism is destroying our humans feeling and it is destroying our minds, and both are saying that they are christians

A Hungarian waitress told us that immigrants should be shot while still on the boats.———————————————————————————
And she/he came from the so called communist countries, and Eastern Europeans were or are discriminated and they are Europeans
In Puerto Rico peoples have helped refuges that have arrived in boats to run aways from the police and the emigration officers and most of them are from Haiti and from the Dominican Republic and they were going to pass a law to allow Dominicans to vote in Puerto Rico like any other resident, and in NYC Puerto Ricans are electing Dominicans politicians ,
The USA/Mexico border is getting refuges from Cuba, China, Taiwan, and Central America, and Haitians, the USA government do not mention the Chinese and the peoples from Taiwan. During ww2 there was a Mexican government decree to remove all Mexican Japanese to be removed from Baja California and the Pacific coast
Mari Brass was an undocumented Puerto Rican, and he was born in Puerto Rico, because he renounced USA citizenship and the Dominican government have given Dominican citizenship to several Puerto Ricans personalities, and members of the independence movement.
In the USA all European were allowed to vote and USA citizenship was not a requirement , but black peoples were not allowed to vote.
In the Caribbean cubans from Cuba and cubans from Florida they seat in the same tables to make jokes, eat and laugh among each other, but the case is different in Florida. Another world outside of hates, it shows that we can cooperate each other to create a new society without borders, walls, nationalism and hates.
During WW2 several ships from Germany with jews were not accepted in the USA but two governments in Latin America accepted them , the USA would have been forced to place them in Ghettoes along with other groups of workers.
It was the same case of the Japanese in the Caribbean, Peru and Brazil who established their own communities, schools and universities

July 8, 2023 at 9:51 am #245174ALBKeymasterTrivial nastiness? No, they are a load of shits. Just as Labour politicians are desperate to get the fruits of office, so the Tories are desperate not to lose them. The only card they have to play is anti-immigrant prejudice and they are playing it for all it’s worth.
As Labour has stolen their clothes to become a Nasty Party too, the Tories have decided to become the Very Nasty Party.

Oh yes, we have:

So that’s why you think that capitalism is the only game in town.

Nope. It’s the only game in town because an overwhelming majority continue to support and vote for it – and will do so for the foreseeable future. Foreseeable, that is, by those alive today. And does anyone seriously give a toss about what happens after they’re dead?
September 3, 2023 at 12:21 pm #246552ALBKeymasterAnd does anyone seriously give a toss about what happens after they’re dead?
Are you saying that people don’t (which is open to question — I would have thought that most people do) or that they shouldn’t? If the second case, you are up against not just us socialists but anybody who wants to improve things in a period longer than they expect to live.
Go tell David Attenborough that capitalism is the only game in town and that he is being stupid in worrying about what happens to nature after the next five years (or maybe ten if he lives as long as James Lovelock).
September 3, 2023 at 6:56 pm #246572ALBKeymasterNo, Sabine, Capitalism Is Not Good and Your Explanation Is Nonsense.
The great “mentor’s” video (referenced above) is just a bog standard child’s guide to the supposed merits of capitalism such as might be put out by free-marketeer think tanks like the Adam Smith Institute and the Institute for Economic Affairs (or in the US the Cato institute).
What I don’t understand is why she risked trashing her reputation as a serious scientist to echo such views. The only reason I can think of is to make money, not just from the advertisements that interrupt her talk, but on behalf of the “sponsor” whose paying services she advertises at the end. It looks as if she has been paid by them to say “capitalism is good”.
Just because she is an expert in astrophysics doesn’t mean she is also an expert in economics. Outside her field her views are worth not more than anyone else’s, probably less in fact if she is just parroting them to make money.
(By the way, she has appeared on this forum before trying to argue that everything that has happened since the Big Bang was predetermined at that moment.)
