Well here's a simpe enough question to ask L Bird. In your vision of unfettered democratic socialism, will there be limits to who votes and who doesn't?

That's a democratic decision.I know that this answer doesn't fit in with your elitist vision of 'fettered undemocratic socialism'.Why not read the LibCom article?

Sorry L Bird, I am not being arsey, I genuinely find your answer amibiguous, do you mean by "that's a democratic decision"  that there will be a democratic decision about who votes and who doesn't, or do you mean by "that's a democratic decision" that a full vote of all people is a democratic decision i.e. That's what a democratic decision is. I am not being picky, I just wanted to clariy in a comradely way.YFSTim

Or are you adopting the elitist standpoint of declaring you know better what Engels thought than Engels.

Of course we 'know better what Engels thought than Engels'!We've had over 150 years to discuss his ideas, and thousands of thinkers have gone through his works, and come to the conclusion that he didn't know what he was talking about. If this is news to you, robbo…

Saying that Engels did not know what he was talking about is a very absolute and ignorant statement. which nobody with the brain of a mosquito will dare to say. Like Dave said in this forum: Marx and Engels had division of labor, each one was proficient in their own field, and Engels was a humble individual who was able to accept that challengeProbably, Marx was more profficient in Philosophy than Engels, and it was an issue that Engels always recognized, and he wrote several times saying that he was a student of Marx conceptions, but in Natural sciences he was very profficient. Marx had to study Mathematic to study Economics, and Engels kwew about MathematicI have studied Microanatomy ( Histology ) and Emrbiology and many things that he said on several of his books have been scientific proven, I know that he was mistaken by applying dialectic to nature, but in his analysis of the universe and biological sciences he was correct. At the beginning the Economist was Engels, it was not Marx, later on, Marx understood that Philosophy was not the main field in order to understand the skeleton of the capitalist society, and he was forced to study Political Economy, and Engels was one of the person that motivated him to do that. The claim made by the Marxist-Humanist that Marx was a philosopher his whole life, is totally wrong, both Marx and Engels moved toward Anthropology and Economic. Many young peoples like me, fell in love with Socialism, thru the writting of Engels, and later one, some of us  recognized that he made mistakes like any other human being. he was not perfect,  but we have  not rejected him completely, we do not dare to say that he did not know what he was saying, personally, I will never dare to say that. What I learned from him was much better of all the ideological and historical garbabes that I learned from the Jesuits and the Salesian, and personally influenced me  to study natural sciences and Anthropology

LBird knows what we all think better than we do ourselves . He has made that clear. Not only can he read our minds but he can read the minds of the long dead Karl Marx and his friends.  Everyone who disagrees with him is under the influence of ideology, apart from himself: HE is correct! By his own definition! He will not answer straight forward questions. He orchestrates the discussions on this forum. He has threads named after him. He calls us names and makes abusive comments about us. We don't talk about the problems confronting us and  other members of the working class: Lbird's definitions of science and ideology must be dealt with first. I can't have an operation to remove a tumor because LBird claims the surgeon is plagued by 19th Century positivism, Feuerbach's materialism  and bourgeois science !It is very sad to see the SPGB waste its time on this  pure unadulterate bullshit What say thee?

The solution is patently obvious.  Continue to respond and the bullshit will continue.  Ignore and the LBird will eventually fly away.

That might be the most intellegent choice. We must continue doing what we have been doing for more than 100 years: Educating, Educating and Educating

I like L Bird. I once read one of his postings.  He's the living embodiment of the tendential fall in the rate of profit.
