Update on Danny's condition. I visited him in hospital yesterday where he has been, both here in King's College, London and in Spain, for the past two months following a 130mph bike crash on a race track in Jerez. He's making slow but steady progress although there was a setback recently when he had a fall which resulted in a further subdural hematoma for which he needed surgery. It is hoped he will be able to leave hospital soon in order to begin a long period of convalescence.
Latest news is once he's able to get out of bed and walking he'll be moved to a hospital in Farnborough for a further assessment. According to Joy he's been asking about party activity. On which I gave a brief update.
Danny has been in a brain rehabilitation clinic in Blackheath (London) for almost five weeks and is doing well. He walks a little with a zimmer frame and is very talkative. His memory of recent events is not good but it's still early days.Visitors are welcome at the Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, 80-82 Blackheath Hill, London SE10 8AD (020 8692 4007) The nearest rail station is Lewisham. Parking is limited but there are meters in a nearby road. Visiting hours are 10am to 8pm.
Danny has left the brain rehabilitation clinic in Blackheath and is now convalescing at his daughter's home in Loughton. He his now walking, albeit a bit wobbly at times, although his memory's not so good. But time will tell.
