A summary of the findings by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) states most of the 17 US intelligence agencies agree that the virus had not been genetically engineered, a theory based on “scientifically invalid claims” whose proponents “are suspected of spreading disinformation”

Pfizer has lifted its 2021 forecast for revenues from its Covid vaccine to $36bn (£26.3bn), and forecast another $29bn sales next year after it started shipping booster jabs and shots for children.

It now expects to make total revenues of up to $82bn this year, and underlying earnings a share of $4.13 to $4.18, compared with its previous forecast of $3.95 to $4.05.

The campaign group Global Justice Now accused Pfizer of “making a killing” out of “the most lucrative medicine ever produced,” while “most of the world has been locked out of this vaccine”.

Its director, Nick Dearden, said: “Just 1% of Pfizer’s supplies have been sold to the international distribution mechanism Covax, as the company has put sales of third and fourth doses in wealthy markets ahead of selling doses to where they’re most needed. This will undoubtedly prolong the pandemic.”

The latest study determines the Wuhan Food Market was indeed the location of the first Covid-19 case

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/nov/19/first-covid-patient-in-wuhan-was-at-animal-market-study-finds

“In this city of 11 million people, half of the early cases are linked to a place that’s the size of a soccer field. It becomes very difficult to explain that pattern if the outbreak didn’t start at the market.”

Now the police are shooting anti-vaxxers in of all places the Netherlands. There must be a lot of discontent around beneath the surface using covid restrictions as the occasion to express it. Can’t think of any other explanation for this on the surface irrational protest.

I saw an interesting statistic. Of the 50 arrested, half of them were under the age of 18.

Is it the rebellion of youth?

Another point to note is that the anti-vaxxer anti-lockdown protests are not taking place in the countries where such restrictions are a serious threat to the welfare of the population who are more vulnerable to the poverty effects of the quarantine policy than probably the coronavirus.

Rather the demonstrations are occurring in the relatively prosperous countries of America, Europe and Australia, who are also privileged to have priority access to the vaccines.

Over 30,000 march against covid restrictions in Belgium ! That the same if not more than those protesting against climate change. Surely we must have something to say these discontented people? But if protests in this scale spread to Britain we need to have something to say them. I don’t know what but there may be some there more amenable to our message than the do-gooders and Christians on the “climate justice” marches.

It seems a lot of the discontent is against the Vaccine Passport regulations to enter restaurants and bars and other facilities. Not so much anti-vax. More about the cure being worse than the disease.

Politically the only groups to endorse the protests appear to be from the Right, presenting anti-Big Government libertarian arguments.

Perhaps there are some left parties involved but I so far have not seen reports of those. If leftists are participating it seems to be as individuals.

There are also a strong element the New Agers anti-Science promoting quack medicines and remedies.

My approach probably isn’t a popular one – where are the protests about equity in access to the vaccine for those in poor nations? Where are the demonstrations outside the Big Pharma offices highlighting their profiteering?

I’m flummoxed too about presenting a clear socialist message because there is a big mix of people involved.

On the environmentalists, it too is spreading to the right

Most anti vaxers, anti masks, and anti vaccines passports are right wingers living under false illusions.

Vaccines passports and school vaccines passports are older than covid 19 passports, as well traveling vaccines are older too.

Nobody protest about the lack of vaccines in poor countries, and the elimination of patents, and most peoples in the poor countries wish to be vaccinated, and they are not getting the best vaccines either, and the best one is Moderna.

Meal cooked within the family is better and more healthy and the prices of restaurants meal are excessive, and you do not know if you are going to get sick too, the only thing that you can get by drinking in a bar is a very expensive police and court ticket .

With masks and without masks we are wage slaves, and freedom is only a legal illusion, we are slaves without chains in our feet

Where are the demonstrations outside the Big Pharma offices highlighting their profiteering?

Actually, according to this and this anti-vaxxering is at least partly due to distrust of profit-seeking Big Pharma.

Maybe that’s an angle for us to say something to them?

My reference to New Ageism and anti-Science was about the conspiracies theories of Big Pharma put out by such websites as Dr Mercola and Natural News.

Their Big Pharma profiting theories is not the same as our anti-capitalist analysis of the pharmaceutical industry

We have to remember that vaccines are not the gold-mine revenue source it is made out to be in these conspiracies and not the main income of Big Pharma, albeit a regular one

Big Pharma vaccine profits – let’s do a financial review with facts

Long time ago I had a long exchange with an anti-MMT vaxxer on a progressive website who was convinced by Andrew Wakefield. This was a well-read and well-informed political activist otherwise. I ended the exchange when he claimed that smallpox had not been eradicated and there were still outbreaks disguised as other poxes from the same virus family. It is an example of the distrust you mention.

Similar to the mistrust of the American electoral system and the media with Trump won and fake news narratives,

Our criticism of Big Pharma is presumably that it is just another profit-seeking industry no better or no worse than any other?

And of course it is not just anti-vaxxer conspiraloons that criticise “Big Pharma” but many Greens who favour herbal medicine instead.

But I am still impressed that over 30,000 can turn out for a demonstration in Brussels.
