Iran, China, Russia, et al. appear to be starting to circle the ageing and weakening beast that is the US empire, the US still have the technology, do they still have the heart for the fight. A bit like the later stages of the Roman Empire.
September 17, 2020 at 5:31 pm #206636alanjjohnstoneKeymasterStrange … but i reach the very direct opposite conclusion, BD
Iran is being encircled by the new Israeli Gulf-State alliances, which informally includes Saudi Arabia
China being encircled by Japan, all the Asean nations, plus Australia, upgrading buying new armaments
Russia by an expanding NATO incorporating and reinforcing Poland, the Baltic States…British and American troops are stationed in them these days
It is America’s enemies that are being gradually encircled.
I certainly don’t see the US as militarily weakening even if diplomatically they do suffer the occasional defeat in the UN.
It remains the major global power and exercise that as we see with their policy of sanctions against Venezuela and Iran, ensuring that despite EU etc disagreeing, actual trading businesses abide by them due to the threat of being blacklisted.
Biden will follow Trump’s anti-China policy according to all the think-tanks, support for Israel will continue, even if Netanyahu might not be the favourite prodigal son. Biden’s foreign policy will be to protect America’s imperial interests and as we saw with Obama that means actually going to war or engaging in proxy wars. Trump is the lesser evil when it comes to militarism.
I understand China’s great strides in becoming the Number One economy – but at the base of it is its own enormous domestic market and sales to America which it managed to tap into but which India, another potential powerhouse has not
I think it would be a great error to underestimate the US and its bellicose nature of its peoples. Belief in its Manifest Destiny remains strong (a plug for a future article by me for next week Dissident Voice) All parties Democrat or Republican accept American exceptionalism – it can do whatever it wants wherever it wants.

“Xinjiang has built a large knowledge-based, skilled and innovative workforce that meets the requirements of the new era,” the report reads. It says the training provided includes written and spoken Mandarin, labour skills and “knowledge of urban life”. The report says people from rural areas have started their own businesses or got jobs in factories after receiving state support.
The US government announced import restrictions on products coming out of the area. Kenneth Cuccinelli, the Department of Homeland Security’s acting secretary told reporters at the time. “This is modern-day slavery.”
Swedish clothing giant H&M said it was severing ties with a Chinese yarn producer amid accusations that the company was using “slave labour” from Xinjiang.

They did not have the same opinion when Mao Tse Tung and Richard Nixon made the first commercial, diplomatic, technological, and industrial production agreement. Now that the capitalist ruling class of China is an independent class and able to challenge USA world hegemony, and China became the world factory, they have recognized that the Chinese workers are slaves, but the USA workers are modern slaves too, and they have the choice to elect their own slave masters

September 18, 2020 at 7:40 pm #206691AnonymousInactiveWhat about China conducting military exercise near New York, California and the Gulf of Mexico? Two Russian militaries Tupolev TU 160 landed in Caracas and the USA was going crazy even that they were thousands of miles ( 3,314 miles ) away from their national border. The pacifist commander in chief of the USA does not know that there is an agreement between Taiwan and China of One China only?

USA is moving ahead with three sales of advanced weaponry to Taiwan, and has sent notification of the deals to Congress for approval,
