Growth is not really the problem, it is the relentless pursuit of profit which is built into the system. Wealth is produced only when it can be sold at a profit.It is true that capitalism invents and creates 'needs': fashions change every five minutes but people still live in extreme poverty and socialist society will initially have to increase the production of things like housing, food, clothing etc/ But when production is carried out for need and not for sale on the market, then people can take the environment seriously.We need to abolish the profit system in a single revolution: withholding 'buying power' will not take society a single step closer to sanity. You have not missed anything. I am just confirming, or adding more to what you have said.Some groups want to make a blockade to commodities made in Israel, but the thing that our problems do not start at the point of consumption, but at the point of production
