April 19, 2015 at 12:16 am #97379alanjjohnstoneKeymasterThis video of Brand on the American election scene i thought was very good…and well worth a watch and linking tohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf8Tm6vTkXc#t=472(As an aside, when can i expect to see the day that i can post a video clip on this forum without it being such a complicated procedure that i forget the instructions)
April 19, 2015 at 1:25 pm #97380SocialistPunkParticipantTotally agree Alan, I've just watched the Brand video and it's very good, probably his best I've seen so far. Nothing us socialists could disagree with there.I was wondering if the SPG…I mean Socialist Party…..no The National Socialist Party….err.Seriously, I was wondering if the SPGB have ever considered doing a YouTube video blog along those lines. Just need someone with a bit of charisma to cover some topical stories every month or so from a socialist perspective?

Everything we couldn't print but wished we could. Then we only require a member with a good speaking voice…and who can read a script…At a push, i think we could just about manage that. As for imaginative ways of presenting our case have you come across the videos from this "taxi-driver" Chunky Mark who has done many, many videos and interviewed many personalities…i often find it excellent…some times he gives me a headache with shouting but what he demonstrates is passion and fire in the heart of his (and our) politicshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZteqvHqop8
April 19, 2015 at 11:26 pm #97382OzymandiasParticipantWell I might have set the ball rolling with the Kliman thing. In a similar vein wouldn't it be an idea to do a video of a party member being interview by this taxi driver guy in his cab?. Could you contact him and angle it as opportunity to give him the party case as well as an opportunity to speak about real democracy and comment about the farce of the election. I watched him interviewing Brand and both of them seem desperate for answers.
April 20, 2015 at 1:59 am #97383alanjjohnstoneKeymasterOzy,Did as you ask… i have sent a very self-affacing email to an address on his website which i hope might elicit a response from him. One thing we should always bear in mind that both he and Russel Brand have years of media performance experience between them and make what they do seem so easy that we can be made to believe we ourselves are capable of doing the same with the same effect. Much of their approach to the camera comes as a second nature now, avoiding elementary mistakes that beginners such as we could make.
April 20, 2015 at 10:37 am #97384AnonymousInactiveWE could start by using The Official SPGB twitter account to follow and retweet the Artist Taxi Driver, Russell Brand etc. At the moment we only follow four people.
April 20, 2015 at 10:44 am #97385alanjjohnstoneKeymasterWhy not indeed…but i am not a twitter so not sure what it all means

Certainly not. No more than attending opponents meetings. Following does not indicate support.Has there been a decision made regarding this?
April 20, 2015 at 4:48 pm #97388AnonymousInactiveDo you know – Has the Socialist Standard a twitter account?

but it would be decided by the Internet Committee. Pity they don't produce minutes of their decisions and deliberations. It would be interesting to know if a decision not to 'follow' was made and if so on what grounds
