August SS pdf

Will there be a pdf available of this month’s Standard? It’s a bit painful to look at the website version..

A genuine question: why do you think it’s painful to read the website version?

PS – There is a PDF of this month’s Socialist Standard. Someone sent me a copy.

Black spidery type on a white background has too much glare for me – plus I have floaters in my eyes and it looks like insects crawling around. Not pleasant.

I prefer a PDF, you can print off a PDF and then sit in the bath and read the Standard, not possible (well not sensible) using a computer.

Bright white background, san-serif font, and a cluttered side-bar all make for an unpleasant view.

For something easy on the eye look at FT.com or economist for example.

Changes to make it more like this could be done relatively easily and quickly… I could even do it if needed.

Thanks for bringing this up DJP – I, too, prefer the PDF. Isn’t it possible to have both options?

I am quite satisfied with the paper copy delivered through the post. A subscription doesn’t cost much.

I used to subscribe to the paper version, and yes it is very cheap, but I – like a lot of people – stopped taking paper versions of most newspapers and magazines a few years back; too much paper to put in the recycling!

The SPGB has money, it should pay someone to make the website look easier on the eye – you will be losing views if not…

At a minimum, can I suggest that the pdf for each new issue is always posted online.

You might want to retitle it. People might not realise that ‘SS AUGUST 2022 web’ is a PDF.
