This is not racism,“ Mr Malihi, deputy mayor, said, according to Haaretz. The deputy mayor of the northern Israeli town of Afula has joined a demonstration calling for a house in the community not to be sold to an “undesirable” Arab-Israeli family. Approximately 150 people marched through the town’s streets on Wednesday afternoon to protest against the owners of a house in the Yizrael neighbourhood who decided to sell to Arabs.

June 16, 2018 at 8:36 am #132566alanjjohnstoneKeymasterGordon Nardell QC will adopt only part of the internationally recognised definition of antisemitism – reportedly omitting examples relating to Israel. It seems a non-zionist Jewish lawyer isn't qualified to investigate anti-semitism … who are the real anti-semites, i wonder.
June 16, 2018 at 10:28 am #132567ALBKeymasterGood for him. That part of the definition is flawed and biassed. It gives as an example of anti-semitism:
Quote:denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination.i.e. denying Zionism's basic tenet. It's like saying opposing an independant Scottish state is, by definition, to be anti-Scottish (even if you are Scottish yourself).
June 30, 2018 at 11:04 am #132568alanjjohnstoneKeymasterQuote:Between 2013 and 2017, researchers from the Jena Institute and the London Institute for Strategic Dialogue examined more than 10,000 pieces of Islamist and right-wing extremist Facebook content, as well as more than one million German Twitter contributions. An analysis of found right-wing extremists and Islamists share fundamental similarities. The racism of the far-right and religious beliefs of the Islamists result in similar viewpoints. The mobilization and radicalization strategies of the two groups were similar, but anti-Muslim contributions, by comparison, were "more radical and more widespread." Islamism and right-wing extremism meet ideologically in anti-Semitism, in conspiracy myths and in the goal of homogeneous societies, the study found. The respective beliefs are therefore racist in the right wing and religiously founded among the Islamists. It found the two groups relied on eacho ther to foster the sense of an enemy and to give credibility to their extremist narratives."Extreme rights and Islamists reject freedom, pluralism, and liberalism," said study author Maik Fielitz.https://www.dw.com/en/study-right-wing-extremism-and-islamism-reinforce-each-other/a-44467597
July 5, 2018 at 11:09 pm #132569alanjjohnstoneKeymasterhttps://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-44732720Campaigners and some Labour MPs have criticised the party's new code of conduct on anti-Semitism.The code states that "anti-Semitism is racism. It is unacceptable in our party and in wider society".But it does not sign up in full to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's working definition of anti-Semitism.Labour MPs Chuka Umunna, Liz Kendall and Anna Turley are among those criticising the omission. Umunna tweeted he was "utterly appalled": "Our values dictate that we treat all groups the same and yet, again and again, we see examples of the Jewish community being treated differently to other groups by the Labour Party. This is discrimination, pure and simple, and it is totally unacceptable."The Jewish Leadership Council and the Board of Deputies of British Jews said in a joint statement that it was "impossible to understand" why Labour had not adopted the IHRA definition in full – as the UK Jewish community, governments and local councils had done. It was "for Jews to determine themselves what anti-Semitism is".The Labour Party endorses the IHRA's working definition of anti-Semitism and includes behaviours it lists as likely to be regarded as anti-Semitic – but leaves out four examples:Accusing Jewish people of being more loyal to Israel than their home countryClaiming that Israel's existence as a state is a racist endeavourRequiring higher standards of behaviour from Israel than other nationsComparing contemporary Israeli policies to those of the Nazis
October 24, 2018 at 2:25 pm #154569PartisanZParticipantHere is some more agenda setting and closing activity by a convention backed by the Israeli government. Not that we would engage in boycotting or any such partisan activity. We are opposed to the very notion of nation states.

I wonder if our investment committee has a policy on where and what to invest the Party’s money?
Has it got an ethical remit?
October 26, 2018 at 6:44 pm #154994AnonymousInactiveYou are totallly correct, Jew is not a race, a nationality, or a nation, it is a religious term, and Semite is not an ethnic group, it is a linguistic term, therefore, both are false, and for centuries both have been spread as historical truth, the myth is stronger than the reality
The geographic term known as the Middle East is wrong too, because that area used to be known as North-East Africa, and the late name was given by a French, as Europeans settlers have done all over the earth, given their own names to others places to claim ownership. Many blacks Africans also professe and follow Judaism, in the Bible it is shown that many Ethiopians and African were Jews.
The term Anti-semitism is wrong also, because in reality is not an opposition against a race, but against a language, and most Jews living in Israel, USA and Europe do not speak a semite langugage, only the black Arabians, which are going to be repatriated by the Israel goverment
The whole thing is a mess and a mythology. Most of them are peoples who were born in different nations with different nationalities, speak different languages, and profess a religion known as Judaism. Speaking Yiddish does not turn anybody into a Jews,or Israelite, as a US American speaking Italian doesnt become an Italian. The whole thing is based on an antique book that is just pure mythology, and fantasies, like the Illiad of Homer.
Race is a sociological construction, and it is not supported by Biology, Medical Genetic, Medical Embriology, and Antthropology, even more, Mankind is not a race either, we are going to liberate ourselves as human being, but not as white, black, yellow, brown, Mestizos, or Red, or as Christians, Jews, Islamic, Buddits, Sintoists, Pagan, etc. etc. and we can obtain our liberation right here over the earth, we do not need a one way ticket to heaven. That is one the great difference between the Christians slave movement and the real Socialist movement
October 26, 2018 at 7:25 pm #154995AnonymousInactiveSome leftwing groups like to take unilateral position and make boycotts against products produced in Israel, but our problems don’t take place at the point of consumption, but at the point of production, and most products produced in Israel are manufactured by exploited workers, therefore, Israel is also a society like Palestine divided between workers and capitalists, the Palestinian capitalists are also exploiting the Palestinian workers. In Latin America, there are governments which are against the government of Israel but they support the Feudal theocratic government of Iran, and they are promoting their own products markets in the region, the Iranian capitalists have a gun factory in Venezuela, which would be the same as a factory of Lockheed Georgia, or the Isreal gun factory in Colombia
October 26, 2018 at 7:32 pm #154997AnonymousInactiveOur Pamphlet is perfect because it covers all the necessary aspect of the conflicts, it clarifies terms, and it takes the proper political stand, it is not unilateral, it shows the class basis of the confrontation. It is a well-done job, as always the Socialist Party has always hit the nail on the head, and we do not have any need to adjust our point of view, we just have to adapt the situations to new events. The left-wing is always rectifying their own stand because since the very beginning they are wrong
October 29, 2018 at 11:41 am #155485GwynnThomasParticipantAlan says
“The geographic term known as the Middle East is wrong too, because that area used to be known as North-East Africa.”
I recall my ‘A’ level geography textbooks referring to this region as “South-West Asia.”
I also recall magazines and newspapers published during the Second World War referring to a region they called the “Near-East” (a term which I think has since fallen out of use). They meant either North Africa from the Atlantic to Egypt [later called “The Maghreb”] or what had historically been that part of Europe formerly part of the Ottoman Empire.
Confusing yeah? — and an argument for defining terms almost every time they are used. 🙂

October 30, 2018 at 8:14 pm #155959AnonymousInactiveIt was not Alan. The Europeans have defined and named everything according to their own interests, that is something that a friend of Malcolm X proved to him in regard to the dictionary. In the Americas, they changed all the names when most cities, continents, (the names of their inhabitants), towns and islands had their names for thousands of years. The term the Middle East is conveniently used because on the contrary, it will show that many Africans were/ are jews too, and the Ottoman empire was a large empire and many countries in the Middle East are just subdivision of the Ottoman empire including Palestine. We are still living our own pre-history
November 9, 2018 at 11:14 pm #156887alanjjohnstoneKeymasterJust as the migrant caravan has disappeared from the headlines once the American midterm elections finished, we have a silence on Corbyn’s antisemitism
This report makes interesting reading on the media’s bias.
It is especially critical of the BBC’s performance in reporting but i have been saying for a long time, BBC = Pravda and TASS, no better than FOX
November 15, 2018 at 7:15 am #159914alanjjohnstoneKeymasterFacebook hired a PR firm that attempted to discredit the company’s critics by claiming they were agents of billionaire George Soros, the New York Times reported Tuesday.
Soros is a Jewish philanthropist who is the frequent subject of antisemitic conspiracy theories. At the same time, the social media company urged the Anti-Defamation League to object to a cartoon used by anti-Facebook protesters over its resemblance to antisemitic tropes.
Rashad Robinson, the executive director of one of the groups targeted by the PR campaign, Color of Change, called the antisemitic smear “outrageous and concerning”.
“This narrative has really dangerous antisemitic undertones about Jewish people controlling the world,” Robinson told the Guardian. “It’s also deeply anti-black – the idea that our strategies, our ideas, our vision are somehow built off some puppet master … That Facebook would employ a rightwing firm to say that is deeply troubling.” Robinson also said that over the past year, he has been asked numerous times by journalists about funding from Soros. “No one at the end of a call says, ‘Are you funded by the Ford Foundation?’,”.
