January 16, 2024 at 4:37 pm #249869ALBKeymasterIt was only yesterday that there were appeals to alleviate starvation in Yemen. In fact some are still being made. Now the US/UK bombing of Yemen is threatening the work of charities getting and distributing food there.
It has even been reported that, to deal with the Houthis, the US has been considering the option of starting the civil war again that caused the famine due to the blockading of ports and intense Gaza-like bombing by Saudi Arabia also armed with US weapons.
And all to protect trade routes and the supply chain for oil and gas.
And still there are states that want the war in Gaza to continue, irrespective of the consequences there and elsewhere. But that’s capitalism for you with its conflicts of economic interests that lead to the waste of armaments and from time to time to actual wars.

January 16, 2024 at 10:33 pm #249874Thomas_MoreParticipantWhy is South Africa telling the truth about Gaza? Doesn’t SA rely on Israel for anything?

Pakistan carried out military strikes against Iran. This conflict is expanding, this is more than “from the river to the sea”
January 18, 2024 at 10:49 am #249957ALBKeymasterNow Jordan has bombed Syria. Looks like the Middle East has become a bar room brawl in which anybody can join in.

January 18, 2024 at 11:45 am #249960ALBKeymasterYes. It’s “only” a generalised Middle East war that’s in the offing. That’s bad enough.

The Guardian has provided a chronology of the bombing spree in the Middle East between the gangsters and the counter-gangsters operating there:============================================================================================
That is the proper name for those guys involved in this conflict ( some sources do not want to call it a conflict ) and the left-wingers continue supporting gangsters, it is like supporting the Sicilian or the Russian mafia.
Socialism has been reduced from a theory of mankind liberation into a theory of nationalists and warmongers, and now they are celebrating the so called Lenin legacy and contribution made by him to socialism, after more than 75 years of the failures of state capitalism and Leninism ( he did recognize his own defeat, and the oppressive nature of the soviet state ) and they still continue repeating the same mistakes.
They have not learned anything new, or they are reading comics books, because everything has been explained on his own collected works which can be compared with Marx real socialist legacy
January 23, 2024 at 6:49 pm #250084ALBKeymasterSunak — backed by Starmer — has justified the latest bombing raid on Yemen as “self-defence”. Who do he — do they — think they are kidding? More like “self-interest” in keeping a key trade route open. But even that’s open to question. By bombing Yemen the first time they clearly made the situation more risky for all ships, especially for UK shipping which wasn’t targetted before (unless they were bound for Israel). But now they are.
Sunak also claimed that it had nothing to do with the war in Gaza. Nobody will believe that.
Maybe they are interpreting to “self-interest” in a broader sense of showing to Iran who is in control of the resources and sea trade routes in the Middle East and are prepared to sacrifice the interest of shipping capitalists in the wider capitalist interest.
It goes without saying that they couldn’t care less about the effect on ordinary people such as prices rising more and being at greater risk of being the victims of terrorist attacks.
January 23, 2024 at 9:28 pm #250100ALBKeymasterInteresting voting tactic in the New Hampshire primary elections:
Apparently these votes will be counted separately:
“The New Hampshire secretary of state’s office told HuffPost that the ‘ceasefire’ votes will be tallied in a ‘separate column’.”
I wonder how many votes they will get.
