Here is the wording of a new leaflet arising out of last month’s anti-immigrant riots. It has already been handed out at events in Glasgow, Lancaster and Manchester and will be this Saturday in London and Swansea.

    End Racism End Capitalism
    No Solution Without Revolution

The media love it when racists riot, because disaster sells.

There’s less interest in the real story, of cooperation, of solidarity against racism, of mutual support, shown by the vast majority of people.

People like you, here at this event.

There are those who say that humans are by nature greedy, selfish and cruel, and that peaceful and cooperative co-existence will never be possible.

That’s nothing but an excuse to justify a violent, warring system that, deep down, we all hate, in which billionaires lounge on their yachts while the rest of us scrape by, obey their stupid laws, and do all the hard work of running society.

It’s capitalism that drives many to a nameless rage they take out on innocent people around them through racism, homophobia and domestic violence.

And it’s capitalism that has become, to quote campaigner George Monbiot, ‘a weapon pointed at the world’, a system of runaway profiteering that is threatening our collective survival.

It’s time to declare we’ve hit peak capitalism.

We can do so much better.

We have the tech and the know-how to upgrade to a sustainable world of democratic common ownership, with no nation states, leaders, rich elites or money.

Making everything free will make everyone free.

Making everyone free will end the rage.

If you want this, say so – tell people you want to move beyond capitalism, because you’ll be surprised how many agree with you.

And contact us to help get the message out.

There was supposed to be a counter-demonstration at 12 noon in Trafalgar Square against a rumoured meeting of Tommy Robinson’s followers. But there was hardly anybody there at that time and two hours later there were a dozen far-rightists separated by a row of police from 50 or so counter-demonstrators shouting “no fascists here”.

Fortunately there was another march in central London — by demonstrators from all over the country calling for Britain to rejoin the EU — so they got leafletted instead. I am sure they all agreed with End Racism; a few might have agreed perhaps with ending capitalism at some distant point. Don’t know what they made of No Solution Without Revolution.

We weren’t the only leafletters. The trotskyoid Alliance for Workers Liberty were there. Also the Rejoin the EU Party.

    Here’s the AWL’s report:

Bit of a damp squib in Swansea too. About 150 anti-racists, who we were able to leaflet, followed later by less than half that number of far rightists. But kept well separated by movable railings and a significant police presence. Passed off with a few speeches and a bit of music. One of the far-rightists was displaying a large picture of Donald Trump. I mentioned that to a friend, a non-Party member, whose response was ‘that says everything’. I couldn’t not agree.

Manchester branch report the same kind of thing. The announced demonstration was cancelled as it clashed with an anti-Gaza war one. So our members distributed our leaflet there.

Although this clashed with one of national internal meetings 4 members leafletted the counter-demonstration:

20,000 people march against Tommy Robinson and the far right

We would challenge the figures of numbers. We didn’t see the anti-immigrant march but even the organisers of the counter-demonstration concede that there were less on it than on Robinson’s.

The SWP and its breakaways were there in force. Not surprising since Stand Up to Racism which organised the counter-demonstration is one of their front organisations. Which might explain the absence of SPEW who wouldn’t want to help a rival vanguard.
