Just tried the first 24 seconds of his talk. Wonder if this would work? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJsprZ2J2WA

January 15, 2017 at 5:00 pm #123745Major McPharterParticipantDoes anybody remember the pamphlet from the early 1980s from paul breeze called WORLD OF FREE ACCESS ? I thought this was very good at putting the case for a sane society in a easy to understand format. A video version of this publication would be tremendous and a fitting tribute to paul who passed away a few years ago.
January 18, 2017 at 7:59 pm #123747robbo203Participantaaargh the link doesnt work but if you google "crash course in philosophy youtube" it will come up straightaway….
January 18, 2017 at 8:01 pm #123746robbo203ParticipantCame across this youtube based "crash course in philosphy" in 42 units of about 10 minutes duration each https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A_CAkYt3GY Its snappy and witty though the guy speaks a little too rapidly to fully assimilate what he is saying in my opinion. But I have to say I quite like it. How about producing a "crash course in socialism" sort of along the same lines, eh?
January 19, 2017 at 8:21 am #123748AnonymousInactiveThe link worked for me, by copy and paste. My first impression is that he is a philosopher able to put his point across with humour and the technical ability to produce videos. So all we need is a socialist with the ability to put the case for socialism across with humour and an ability to produce videos Did you ever see this, Robbo?brilliant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipe6CMvW0Dg

Its excellent. I like the "crash course in philisophy" format mentioned above though. It would be great to have a "crash course in socialism" perhaps spread over a dozen units or so

I think the case for making use of this sort of technique is very strong

February 26, 2017 at 10:45 am #123755AnonymousInactiveThanks for that, Matt, I hadn't seen it before. I don't really find it engaging and I like the book. Imagine it animated as a whiteboard,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZ1E98Sr64QAnimated and brought up to date and to life.I think it would be more engaging and more likely to be watched.A whiteboard video on the money trick would already have an audience as Tressell is popular on the leftAlso it will have our stamp on it and advertise the party. We may hear 'have you seen the SPGB's Video? Good take on the money trick' 'SPGB?'NB: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFdCzN7RYbw&t=9s
