Copyright is not really a problem as I will not be making money. No one took my xmas video down. The owners merely claimed copyright, after all the more the song is used the more money they make and they get free publicity for the song. (Tho' I have removed it)

January 29, 2014 at 3:59 pm #99365northern lightParticipantHi Vin, I asked Socialist Punk and he suggested, "Punk Rock Song" by Bad Religion. (well he would, would'nt he.)Then there is "Cu.ts still running the world" by Jarvis Cocker……. …. but perhaps not.
January 30, 2014 at 9:44 am #99366AnonymousInactiveAye, A couple of canny songs but they don't paint a picture of world socialism as well as 'Imagine' does ( I suspect there is not another song like it) and the attack on capitalist ideology isn't as thorough as 'working class hero'.But I thank you and SP for the suggestions.
January 30, 2014 at 3:39 pm #99368OzymandiasParticipantNotes for a song I’m in the middle of writing. Too preachy maybe? Under the Spreading Chestnut TreeI sold you and you sold me.Oh how they lie, and here lie weUnder the Spreading Chestnut tree.In this society you seeWe are divided…You and MeAnd while they tell us “We are Free”Our hatred is their Secret Key(Key Change)Oh come a day we’ll realiseThe power we have, how great the prizeWe slaves begin to organiseTo sweep away the power, the lies No leaders meant to represent No princes, Popes or Presidents The end of Cash, the end of rent The end of war and the 1% (Back to original key) But surely we can’t run the show? We’re greedy, selfish, dumb too slow Its Human Nature don’t you know! Our masters like to tell us so Fuck Lenin, Stalin…Hitler too How Socialistic were this crew? John Lennon had a better view Imagining his dream comes true Imagining his dream comes true Imagining his dream comes true Etc

January 30, 2014 at 3:52 pm #99371AnonymousInactiveThose are great lyrics, Ozy!Are you a musician/songwriter/singer by profession?
January 30, 2014 at 4:26 pm #99373AnonymousInactiveGreat voice. Ozy. I will listen to more of your stuff later on. I have sung – (still do) – rock covers in north east pubs and clubs over the past 20 years so I imagined your lyrics in a rock/acoustic genre. In the Old Grey Whistle Band at the moment but to keep on topic, I am sure you can come up with a revolutionary song
January 30, 2014 at 4:35 pm #99367OzymandiasParticipantListen thanks Vin! I completely agree that nothing encapsulates our argument as well as "Imagine" which is why I kind of wanted to quote it a little at the end of my lyric. I don't think any song comes close to Lennon's supreme effort. Too bad the guy was a bit of an arsehole. I guess that level of fame would warp anyone though!
January 30, 2014 at 5:36 pm #99374steve colbornParticipantHey Vin, Ozy, the lyrics Ozy wrote appear pretty revolutionary to me. More power to your songwriting mate!

The lyrics are more than good enough! In fact they are brilliant. All I meant was that with those lyrics I am sure he will come up with a revolutionary song. Only the music is needed now. He already has the lyrics. I would love to sing an acoustic version of those words but I am not really a song writer.
January 30, 2014 at 5:52 pm #99376OzymandiasParticipantHi Vin, mate by all means use my lyric. Do what you want with it. Cheers Ray

Lost (2-5-0)I have researched the subject and the party could produce a silent video and use Imagine legally on Youtube which would be a good idea as Imagine is the only song calling for revolution
April 30, 2014 at 10:46 pm #99372OzymandiasParticipantListen thanks Vin. Believe it or not I'm an Opera Singer and I studied at the RCM in London. I sing Tenor for Scottish Opera Chorus now. Apart from Opera I also write music and these lyrics came to me in the past week. I'm involved with a team of professional songwriters and we are about to start working on this song tomorrow. We utilised samples from the "Concerto for Stan Getz" for Saxophone and Orchestra by Richard Rodney Bennett and I scribbled up these lyrics to go with the jazzy fragment we have so it's a work in progress…
