Would you like to live in a world where money does not exist? A world where everything is free? A world without rich or poor? A civilization where all human needs are met by society working together as a whole? A world without boundaries, where people live together in peace and harmony?
Because all human beings are basically socialist anarchists at heart, most people will say ‘yes’. But, they will ask, would it be possible?
The only way for this plan to work is for the message to be spread.
Tell people about the 2012 Strike for a Moneyless World . If they like the idea, tell them to tell their friends. Those friends will tell others, and by the year 2012 everyone on the planet will know about the strike and decide whether they are for or against it.
On that day a new moneyless system will begin which will change the world completely.
You might consider distributing copies of this flyer –
WORLD STRIKE 2012
If you agree that the abolition of money would be a fine solution to most of our problems, and that we could create a much better system where EVERYTHING – food and drink, clothing and housing, water, heating, education, health-care and entertainment – shall be FREE for EVERYONE – why not join the World-Wide Strike on the opening day of the Olympic Games in 2012?
The Strike will begin the moment the symbolic Olympic flame is lit – the signal for all who support the abolition of money to stop work and demand a new fair world of true freedom and justice.
WE WANT A MONEYLESS WORLD
Pass it on.
“We have it in our power to begin the world over again.” Thomas Paine.

February 26, 2012 at 11:27 am #87823DJPParticipantHow on earth can a strike achieve a moneyless society? Such a thing cannot be achieved by people withdrawing their labour but by people consciously cordinating how their labour is conducted and distributed. This is bound to be a dismal flop.I guess the best thing it will provide is platform for speaking to people who may be interested in ‘full communsim’ as it were…
February 26, 2012 at 12:08 pm #87824ALBKeymasterI suppose this is meant only as a publicity exercise to get people thinking about a moneyless society. If it’s anything more it will be a flop.In any event, as we’ve always said “if people won’t vote to end capitalism, they’re even less likely to strike to end it”. There are plenty of elections coming up to test how many people want a moneyless society. In France there’s a presidential election. Why not call for people there to Vote for a Moneyless Society? There’s regional elections in London here in Britain in May. We will be standing a couple of candidates, standing for a moneyless world (or rather for a world society, without frontiers, based on common ownership and democratic control of productive resources, in which money would become redundant), also basically as a publicity exercise. If there really was a moment building up for a World Strike on Friday 27 July 2012 to establish a Moneyless World then we would know by 3 May when the London elections take place — and there’d be 2 Socialist councillors in the Greater London Assembly. A nice thought but, unfortunately, not very realistic at the moment.

But if you’re going to convince anyone other than those already convinced you’re going to have to learn to convey yourself better than that.
February 27, 2012 at 8:19 pm #87827AnonymousInactiveThe billions already convinced are enough.

The 27th July will come and go and NOTHING will happen. If you really want to work for a world of free access you’ll have to accept this and be prepared to put in the long and tedious work that is required to bring it about. It took hundreds of years for the transition from fuedalism to capitalism to be fully completed, we have to accept that we may not live to see the realisation of a moneyless society; but, like the builders of cathedrals, we have contributed to something that will long outlive our children and childrens children. There are no shortcuts to the new society, we must face this or otherwise suffer bitter disappointment and withdrawal.

Methinks you’re just ever-so slightly delusional :)As far as this 2012 strike is concerned, well, you can just imagine, can’t you? The ruling class will simply roll over and say “Well, that looks remarkably like an end to class-privilege!”For my part, I’m taking a very positive attitude to this strike. I’m positive that it’s a waste of time even discussing this half-baked stunt any more than I already have which is virtually zilch. Best thing to do with those who subscribe to this nonsense is to provide them with a platform and then sit back and wait until they fall off it! I predict that the wait won’t be very long………

I predict that the wait won’t be very long………Well, 150 days according to the Olympic Games website. But saying that if anyone is serious about the idea of a moneyless society they are free to join the Socialist Party, providing they take the time to study our aims and principles and understand and agree with them.
February 28, 2012 at 9:49 am #87831J SurmanParticipantThe billions may well be convinced that they have been and continue to be screwed by the capitalist system. Unfortunately it doesn’t mean they know (apart from wanting rid of it and its effects on them) what they want in its place or how to achieve it. As noted above by DJP, there is no overnight solution but there is a wealth of information to be found on the world socialism, SPGB and associated websites for those who are seriously seeking to achieve the viable alternative.
