Just in case no one is aware, clicking on Google links to the worldsocialism.org website brings up this warning message (I'm using Chrome browser).
November 25, 2017 at 6:59 am #130785alanjjohnstoneKeymasterI got the same message using google chrome.
This definitely discourages traffic so is there something that can be done?November 25, 2017 at 12:06 pm #130786ALBKeymasterWhen I got oit I scrolled down and click a box which said "Make Exception" or something like that. So I did and it worked. I'm using Firefox.

November 26, 2017 at 9:46 pm #130789AnonymousInactiveThe security warning is due to an expired SSL certificate. The Internet Committee is aware of the problem and is working on a solution.

We don't have the ignore option as Firefox does.Whenever i encountered this pop-up message elsewhere i "returned to safety"…i am sure some traffic will take that option and not visit the site. Quicker the snag is solved, the better.
November 27, 2017 at 5:37 am #130792J SurmanParticipantHi Alan, I asked 'my' Alan about this. He says he moved away from anything google some time ago as they've become more and more intrusive and controlling. The browsers he uses, both which function very well, are Yandex beta and Opera. Mine , and his sometimes, is Firefox. As for search engines we both use DuckDuckGo having dumped google. DuckDuckGo doesn't track you so there's no crap to deal with – not trying to flog you info etc.To clean up facebook use FBPurityPeriodically this computer skills necessity drives me absolutely bonkers – I have to leave the room screaming!

We really ought to be automatically redirecting HTTP traffic to HTTPS…Anyway, the problem was indeed an expired certificate. The certificate was automatically renewed before it expired, but for whatever reason the renewed version didn't get automatically installed, so the website was continuing to serve the old, expired one. I installed the new one in such a way that (I hope) the problem will not recur. HTTPS connections should be working again, and I encourage everyone to connect to the site that way only.
