There's a revolution going on in the Middle East. The Kurds – the largest stateless nation in the world – are attempting to defend a radically democratic alternative to the nation state, simultaneously fighting off hordes of theocratic fascists.
Join us at the Casa for an enlightening afternoon of documentary-films and discussions about the revolution.
The programme for the afternoon is as follows:
*The afternoon will open with four short films.
*Thomas Phillips will provide some context, explaining who the Kurds are and how they came to be wedged between Syria, Iran, Iraq and Turkey.
*Ozgur Soylu will read some poetry and a letter written by a Yazidi refugee who was chased out of his ancestral home by ISIS last August.
*Ahmad Moslem will discuss the present situation of the Kurds and explain the ongoing revolution and fight against the ISIS gangs.
*Sama Osman will talk about the crucial role of women in the revolution.
*The floor will be opened up for questions and a free discussion.
