WSP(India) 2015 Annual Conference and Spring School Reports

REPORT OF THE PROCEEDING OF THE SPRING SCHOOL & TWENTY FIRST ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE WORLD SOCIALIST PARTY (INDIA) HELD AT HEAD OFFICE, 28 FEBRUARY – 1 MARCH 2015:

• SPRING SCHOOL: Saturday, 28 February, 2 PM to 7 PM (with breaks):

(called to order at 3.30 PM)

– Participants: Binay Sarkar, Sumitra Mondal, Hari Sadhan Ghosh, Indrani Mazumder, Raghu Narayan Chaudhuri, Dipak Kumar Bhattacharya, Pradip Kumar Singha, Dipankar Roy.

– B. Sarkar welcomed comrades.

• B. Sarkar initiated the discussion on the subject: Marxism and the caste question in India. The discussion centered on a chapter titled Sen Looks East in the book A Socialist Critique of the BBC, Albert Einstein, Amartya Sen and Muhammad Yunus available at: http://worldsocialistpartyindia.org/aboutus.html

• The discussion continued until closure at 7 PM (having a tea break from 5 PM to 5.30 PM).

• TWENTY FIRST ANNUAL CONFERENCE 2015: Sunday, 1 March, 2.30 PM to 7 PM (with breaks):

– Present: Amit Kumar Ghoshal, Binay Sarkar, Gorachand Paramanik, Hari Sadhan Ghosh, Dipak Kumar Bhattacharya, Sumitra Mondal, Pradip Kumar Singha, Raghu Narayan Chaudhuri, Rathish Kumar Sharma, Dipankar Roy, Biswarup Chaudhury

– Chairperson: Hari Sadhan Ghosh

During the Conference an elaborate discussion ensued on our object, principles and the means to replace capitalist mode of production with socialist one. Many questions were raised by Amit Kumar Ghoshal and Rathish Kumar Sharma which were answered by our members. After the interactive itinerary Amit Kumar Ghoshal invited us to hold a meeting at Phulbagan in Kolkata and Rathish Kumar Sharma invited us to hold a meeting at Kankinara in North 24 Parganas.
