In December 2015, a full year from now, crucial talks on climate change will take place in Paris.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_United_Nations_Climate_Change_Conference
Not too far away from London (unike previous venues) and we have a couple of fluent French speakers as members.
I think we should have literature and leaflets prepared and be in attendance when those talks are held. I am sure that there will be numerous protests and campaigners taking place. But for me, acting as the World Socialist Movement, we will be seen as addressing world problems and hopefully establishing contacts from people across the globe in the process.
The partycan hire a mini-bus or buy Euro-rail tickets or whatever and coordinate with local sympathisers that i believe we have a few of in France. Perhaps accommodation may be a bit of a problem so we should make early arrangements
I recall we had a couple of people go to Genoa for a G8 back in 2001, and back in 2005 we tried to make ourselves known at the Make Poverty History protests which were hosted a lot further away than Paris. i think we can make an even more prominent presence in Paris if we plan early in advance and provide the materials to distribute…i don't think we have a WSM banner, do we? Something to acquire.
Perhaps a branch can place this proposal on the Conference agenda to get the ball rolling and ADM can be used as an update on the progress.

December 15, 2014 at 4:20 pm #106872jondwhiteParticipantWouldn't we be better off delivering a talk at Fête de Lutte ouvrière, in May?http://communism.wikia.com/wiki/La_f%C3%AAte_de_Lutte_Ouvri%C3%A8re

December 15, 2014 at 11:01 pm #106875steve colbornParticipantIndeed, Why Not!!!!!
December 15, 2014 at 11:49 pm #106876alanjjohnstoneKeymasterI go for that too, it is not an either/or. As people say, we are capable of both. We can use the May workers fair event as a dry run for the logistics/travel arrangements/accommodation and stuff. I am sure many will like to meet up with the comrades involved with Bataille Socialiste who do great work re-posting articles on the web.Still would like a WSM banner to be made though….and a updated pamphlet to complement Inconvenient Question… to be multi-lingual …DarrenO/John Bisset did one for the London World Social Forum several years back which was easily put together from existing articles and done in HO. We should have a new workable printer/duplicator with members acquainted with its operation by then, shouldn't we?
December 16, 2014 at 9:59 am #106877J SurmanParticipantHas someone, or could someone duplicate this thread on spintcom/spopen, whichever is appropriate, to draw in more members and especially branches to the discussion?
December 16, 2014 at 10:40 am #106878ALBKeymasterYes it does look as if we could do with a new banner:

December 16, 2014 at 12:39 pm #106880alanjjohnstoneKeymasterWhere is the Socialisme Mondial banner?….It would still be useful and its not that big so easy enough to pack, but i agree with Vin…a special WSM banner should be designed and used…We have the WSM globe unite for socialism but i think we can include in a new one something related to the global environment.,,,a slogan that's original ..So no "System change not climate change" as it is now passe…something completely different."Socialism or Extinction" seems a bit extreme and some might dispute it but i like itWhat about "Unite for Socialism, A World to Win, A Planet to Save" ?Maybe we can run a contest for the best slogan…Not so sure that the logo would pick up too many votes
December 16, 2014 at 2:00 pm #106881jondwhiteParticipantThe Unite for Socialism logo has been successfully used by WSPUS for many years.

'Unite for Socialism' has always struck me as being a rather pointless slogan. We'd hardly 'Disunite for Socialism'.The design below, which is a variant of the new HO fascia sign, is one Kent and Sussex intends to use on the wrap around table banner on our literature stalls from 2015. The main part will effectively appear at the front of the stall with the new emblem on each end of the banner where it wraps round the sides of the stall.
