An interesting article on the plans for linking China and the West via a new network of rail and road. It explains the Chinese overtures towards the Ex-Soviet stans and its colonial approach to its western region Xinjiang . A new Eurasian integration. World War One in part was caused by the fear of the Berlin-Baghdad railway, perhaps a functioning Berlin-Beijing railway might result in a renewed diplomatic/commercial frenzy
