Searching for if and where No2EU will be standing in the coming Euroelections I came across this dirty tricks site set up by UKIP:
Well, if you think up a name like No2EU it was bound to be hi-jacked by UKIP. In any event, it only helps UKIP.
I never found where they are standing, only that their main backers now appear to be the "Communist Party of Britain" (the Morning Star mob), given that SPEW are concentrating on the local elections as TUSC and that, now that Bob Crow is no longer there, not many RMT national and branch officials will want to make a fool of themselves by getting derisory votes that will undermine their credibility. Also, many leftists, including Left Unity, are reluctant to campaign under such a pro-UKIP slogan.

April 12, 2014 at 7:40 am #101232ALBKeymasterNo2EU held a meeting in London last Thursday:http://www.morningstaronline.co.uk/a-84ce-No2EU-campaign-to-visit-London/I see it is labelling itself (or rather the Morning Star and CPB are) a "radical anti-imperialist coalition", but it is still promoting the mistaken view that the problems facing workers in Britain are due to the EU and therefore the equally mistaken conclusion that they would be improved if Britain withdrew as if that would make any difference. The only other region I've been able to find where they are standing is the West Midlands where the list is headed by ex-Labour MP and leading SPEW member Dave Nellist:http://www.socialistparty.org.uk/articles/18375I don't know about "radical anti-imperialist" but it is a coalition, a rather bizarre one between the Stalinists of the CPB and the Trotskyists of SPEW.
April 20, 2014 at 8:28 am #101233ALBKeymasterInteresting article here in the Weekly Worker making the point that No2EU, although still nominally supported by SPEW (probably only to get money from RMT to finance TUSC), is essentially now a CPB front. It is also standing in Wales where its list is headed by the CPB's General Secretary, Robert Griffiths.
April 25, 2014 at 6:07 am #101234ALBKeymasterIn the end No2EU is standing in 7 of the 11 mainland European constituencies, i.e all except North East, East Midlands, South East and South West. Pity as I thought (and hoped) they were going to disappear. The Scargill Labour Party is only contesting Wales and people in the North West will have a chance to vote for the Trotskyist "Socialist Equality Party".

Sounds familiar doesn't it? Don't know why they couldn't think of their own unique name? Probably too lazy, or not imaginative enough. So before you accuse UKIP of dirty tricks you should get your facts right.

May 12, 2014 at 5:50 am #101238ALBKeymasterInteresting. I didn't know that. So it was Bob Crow and his crew who are the plagiarists. You live and learn. Meanwhile the other No2EU site (No2EU.com, which our friend here says the dot com means dot communist) has this on its home page:
Quote:The EU is turning human beings into commodities to be shunted around Europe while local workers are excluded from being able to provide for their families.Workers are commodities or, rather, their ability to work is, but this has nothing to do with the EU but is a basic feature of capitalism everywhere and would continue even if Britain gets outIt seems that No2EU.com want a situation where workers in Britain can only be shunted around the UK and in fact be deprived of the possibility of going to elsewhere in Europe to try to sell their ability to work on better terms. And they call themselves "communists" and "socialists". They are a disgrace to these terms and are just adding fuel to UKIP's fire..
