Growth is not really the problem, it is the relentless pursuit of profit  which is built into the system. Wealth is produced only when it can be sold at a profit. It is true that capitalism invents and creates 'needs': fashions change every five minutes but people still live in extreme poverty and socialist society will initially have to increase the production of things like housing, food, clothing etc/   But when production is carried out for need and not for sale on the market, then  people can take the environment seriously. We need to abolish the profit system in a single revolution: withholding 'buying power' will not take society a single step closer to sanity. But thanks for the link

======================================================================================================Vin:We as socialist, we do not want to eliminate profits, and sales on December, or during  Christmas, we do not want make  any reformist boycott,  and we do not want to comeback to the so called real spirit of Christmas, what we really  want is to eliminate profits forever, and we want to eradicate all religious mythologies too

You have not missed anything. I am just confirming, or adding more to what you have said. Some groups want  to make a blockade to commodities made in Israel, but the thing that our problems do not start  at the point of consumption, but at the point of production

As the title of an article in the Socialist Standard once put it, charity begins at work.
