This easy to read pamphlet from the 30s by John Keracher is also a very good on religion. http://www.marxists.org/archive/keracher/1929/how-gods-made.htm This one by Paul Lafargue, Karl Marx's son-in-law is also to be recommended if a bit wordy http://www.marxists.org/archive/lafargue/1906/socphil/index.html
