I have been contributing the best I can to the SPGB blog and wanted to know what comrades felt generally about the blog. It has a regular readership list of 68 and quite high page views, but given the effort put into it, is it getting results? Have we ever had anyone join from it? How can it be better? How can it be more popular? Seems we have some great tools at our disposal, but I wonder sometimes if we use them effectively enough and if we are actually measuring our results against the effort put in……
Should this be in the World Socialist Movement section rather than here (which is meant for comments on articles in the Standard)? But, while I’m writing, my view on the blog is that we should not post more than one item a day but nobody takes any notice.
Personally I think the Blogs should be incorperated into the main site in the very near future. It’s probably better to concentrate our output into one place rather than scattering it all around the internet.I think the more posts the better, providing the quality is good.

I like the thought of combining or incorporating it in this site though as Blogger can be a pain the butt sometimes. So we have 68 readers, and three or four contributers and just two lines of thought on it’s entire future in here…….I’ll be interested to hear Alan’s views although I know he has computer woes at the moment.

Which backs up the case for amalgamating the blogs into the main site.
A blog is a web based diary. Normally most are on post per day, a way of keeping the readership in touch and a way for the writer to convey, normalyl topical, thoughts. The SOYMB blog conveys our ideology and viewpoint by highlighting news stories that expose the failings of the status quo or underlining our take on things.To do this really only take a post, maybe two per day I feel. I subscribe to other blogs and most are either shorts punchy affairs that post frequently or longer, more in depth articles that make you think and are posted far less frequently. I think this keeps reader interest alive and attract news audiences. People generally have short attention spans online and flit from thing to thing, the world is a click away. Therefore, I think it is better to have short, punchy stories on a daily basis with slightly longer postings or in depth stuff over the weekend.This is just my opinion mind!

I like the blog. I like it separate, I like it with as many posts a day as the team can generate. If you want a successful model with lots of visitors you should be comparing it to socialist unity or world socialist web site depending on what approach you want to take.
I think the blog needs a search section. I have tried to subscribe to the blog several times in order to forward the articles to others forum, but I have not accomplished that yet
