Fully featured forum?

Is there a case for a more fully featured forum using something like on the top 3 forum software packages such as phpbb, vbulletin or ipboard? It could even be on a separate website. I know http://www.worldsocialistforum.com/forum/ use something called “simple machines forum” software.
A widescreen version and a mobile version? E-mail updates with the reply in the message? Forum RSS? Embedding of youtube videos?
All of these can be done with the software we have currently (Drupal).The forums already have RSS feeds.At the minute though what work has been going on has been on an upcoming update of the worldsocialism.org site, which will have an adaptive layout.But as ever the problem is not a lack of ideas but a lack of hands.
This format is much better than Yahoo groups, and also the Socialist Party has much control over the membership and the messages that are going to be sent. I am not participating in the WSM forum any more. I do not understand why the party has left a few guys to take the forum out of track

What the party must do is to take strict control of both forums, and whoever does not follow the proper rules and try to take the forum out of track, they must be blocked. Instead of having one moderator they should have several moderators, or a team of moderators able to take turn and the decisions must be carried over by unanimous decisions. We can not let a couple of right wingers and recalcitrants to take control of our forums. The whole conversation about ECA is just a repetition going into an endless cycle
