We don’t currently have a moderator for these forums, so would any participant like to volunteer? If not, could participants suggest how they would like to proceed?
    Thanks

I’m willing to volunteer, I used to moderate the WSM forum, so…

As someone who was moderated in the past by Cde Alan Johnson, I think I understand the moderator role. Alan was very strict and he told me off many times but I respected his opinion. I’m willing to be a moderator, but perhaps I’m a bit of a loose cannon who might need to be moderated myself. Who will moderate the moderators?

I’ve just realised the answer to my own question – the EC will moderate the moderators.

If anyone from now on posts anything that I consider inappropriate, I’m going to moderate them now that I’m officially a moderator. If they say something abusive I’m going to delete them without warning – hopefully I can do this now that I’m official. If they say something vaguely insulting or otherwise inappropriate, I’m going to warn them and I’ll do this privately. As a party member I advocate free speech but reserve the right to censor abuse.

You wait ages for a moderator and then two come along. Good luck to you both.

I was not so lucky when I was the moderator of the WSM forum. It was a bigger challenge and a bigger membership

Doubtful – you can’t even get Johnstone’s name right!

    Pathetic.

‘…I advocate free speech but I reserve the right to censor abuse’ (as defined by you?).
I’m not a racist but have you ever noticed?….

Bit below the belt, that. And uncalled for.

Paula, I very much hope you made your comment with your tongue firmly in your cheek. That’s the sort of comment a Reddit moderator would make. I’ve never been on Reddit btw but social media is always taking the michael (apologies to anyone named Michael) out of them for there abuse of their power. For the record, i’m a fan and advocate of completely free speech.
Given my initial caveat I wish you good luck in your new role.

What would happen if the WSM/SPGB receive an avalanche of membership applications from other countries outside of Europe ? We must accept them if they answer all the questions correctly, are we English, internationalist or worldliest ? We call ourselves the World Socialist Movement, but we should call ourselves the World Socialist Party and our main job is to spread socialism around the world, that is the reason why we are in Facebook, twitter, instagram, messenger, forums of left-wingers, Groups IO, ex-Yahoo groups, chats, etc etc and with our minimal resources we are doing a good job, and if we have the opportunity to speak in a government congress we should do it too, in some countries around the world communist and socialists are allowed to speak on television and radio pograms

We must be ready to open the windows and doors of our brains to accept peoples who speak different languages, and with different cultural backgrounds, different customs, and some of them are going to be peasants, factories workers, maquiladoras workers, retirees, unemployed peoples, craftsmen, Tailors, electricians, construction workers, peoples with different sexual orientation, different color of their skin, and peoples with minimal academic education, but many of them have more class consciousness than those with academic knowledge, they have been in the middle of the class struggle since they were born

Many of them are going to have difficulties in order to write in English but they must be respected like any other member of the working class because they are human beings and they are exploited like any other worker and probably they are going to be motivated to write articles in the socialist standard like Issac wood who was a hillbilly ( a peasants, or Charles derby who was a slave ) and he became the editor of a newspaper and knew Marx by heart, or the poor shoeshiner, or the poor tailor who gave me class on marxism and I was a catholic boy but they gave me the spark, some of them were members of a central committee

Petit bourgeoisie are neat picking, keyboard warriors, and cafeteria warriors, but at the time of real social uprising they always hide under a bed, they are cowards, they want to carry the class war with a dictionary, but as Lenin correctly wrote: politic is dangerous, I already went thru that , workers from the factories and peasants have always confronted the brutality of the capitalist class and they are always ready to fight back.

I have worked with peasants, factories workers, craft workers, illiterate peoples and many of them have known more about socialism and marxism than many intellectuals, and I have learned many things from them and when they become a member of a socialist party they take it as a full time job, and some are ready to die for their own political parties, they don’t fool around. There is a young guy from Africa who has a Facebook page, and he has difficulties to write in English and he is a stalinist but he wrote: I have learned many new things with the socialist party

That was the political culture that I grew up with , and I do not support violence but if it is necessary to take a rifle for the working class revolution I will do it along with peasants, women, illiterate, and factories workers, in some place is going to be the ballot but in other places is going to be the bullet. We do not fight for ourselves, we fight for the future generation, to provide a better world to our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren

Like Dunayeskaya wrote: When they move, they move, the question is, are you going to be ready when they move ? Many peoples around the world are ready when they move, while other are ready to go to the bathroom.

If Paula made a spelling error that is not very important, the importance issue is the job that she is going to perform, and in this party we had never had a woman as a moderator, ( but during the war women played an important role in this party ) and in certain occasions women have more courage than men. like in Colombia where a bunch of women built their own city because most of their husbands are dead

How do you contact a moderator, specifically this forum’s moderator, if you have a query, need clarification, or even, Marx forbid, have a complaint? I’m presuming that there are some things that necessarily wouldn’t want to be gone into on a public forum?
I haven’t much experience of forums really so I genuinely don’t know how to go about what I’ve outlined.
    Enlightenment appreciated.

Thank you Marcos for your support. I’m happy to join the revolutionary women of the world.
