December 18, 2020 at 4:00 pm #210991james19Participant“A disgrace” Is one response on Twitter, by Angela Rayner a Labour MP. Not sure if she has seen Jacob Ress-Moggs take on this?🤔
A disgrace.
You should be ashamed of yourselves @BorisJohnson @RishiSunak and the rest of you.https://t.co/P3u1fiJliM

December 18, 2020 at 9:51 pm #211017james19ParticipantI didn’t watch his speech in Parliament, but then gave a short listen. I tweeted this:
Children are starving in Britain. Yet Ress-Moggs government won’t do anything, but it can find £16bn for the military!
His Government totally ignored the U.N. Special Rapporteur, on the UK Government’s Austerity measures, which it said: was cruel and adversely affected vulnerable groups!Ress-Mogg attacks UNICEF for playing politics, that they (UNICEF) should help people elsewhere, but he couldn’t give a damn one bit about them!
His Government’s Foreign office has reduced UK overseas aid budget by £2.9bn and is facing billions (£15bn according to Downing Street) in cuts to many of these countries, which will make matters worse (if that’s possible) for those suffering from food shortages, food insecurity and hunger.Cut to UK’s overseas aid budget ‘not ruled out’ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-54977729

This is nothing new- I lived in Britain for a short while as a kid.
Being an Irish Catholic it was tough- and I remember the abject poverty many of my class mates experienced- bones like barbed wire threatening to rip through skin. I would have craved a UNICEF lunch back then.
December 18, 2020 at 11:18 pm #211036alanjjohnstoneKeymasterNewham London council can no longer finance its universal free meal scheme. Now only those eligible for free school dinners will get them, excluding many needy working poor and migrants.

This: the tweet is by someone who calls herself a Socialist Democrat in her Twitter bio.
Labour slashed benefits and demonised claimants as scroungers too. They gave contracts to the likes of Atos and Serco. And now children are going hungry.
