May 29, 2020 at 5:57 pm #203236james19ParticipantBreaking:
Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who has been identified as the man who put his knee on George Floyd’s neck, has been arrested in connection to Floyd’s death.
May 29, 2020 at 6:16 pm #203238james19ParticipantI have watched the video on Facebook, it was everywhere. Little bits of what happened are appearing.
The event leading up to his eventual death, where he wandered away and was eventually handcuffed.
What upsets me in this scene is George Floyd’s looked as if he was really worried, frightened and utterly helpless.
He seemed resigned to his fate. 😢He lost his life for trying to pass a dud $10 bill? I don’t even know what this means? Why were the police called?

May 29, 2020 at 7:27 pm #203240AnonymousInactiveAmazon is selling fake money. A human being was killed for a fake $20.00 bill and he gave to the employee of the store the merchandise that he purchased which was a pack of cigarettes
May 30, 2020 at 1:11 am #203253PartisanZParticipantIn solidarity with protestors, union bus drivers in Minneapolis signed a petition and refused to transport police officers and arrested protestors to jail on Thursday, PayDay Report first reported and independently confirmed by Motherboard. At one bus garage in downtown Minneapolis on Thursday evening, some workers refused to drive buses that were being dispatched to transport police officers.s where actions like this happen, and where this took place, now watched in horror across the globe,” a press statement from the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1005, said.
May 30, 2020 at 2:40 am #203255AnonymousInactiveWas the second amendment extended to the black slaves or to the black panthers?
The White House has been closed due to the protests in Washington DC, they are all running away. They are only braves to give orders to drop bombs in other countries
May 30, 2020 at 3:18 am #203256alanjjohnstoneKeymasterWhen the Black Panthers began armed protests on the steps of the Californian state legislature building the then governor Ronald Reagan changed the law to ban it. He had the support of the NRA to do so.
There will be no justice for George Floyd. Already it is said that he did not die of suffocation or asphyxiation, that he had a pre-existing heart condition which would have been exacerbated by alcohol or drugs. Police treatment of him will be determined as only a contributory factor which the police officers were unaware of and therefore they will be let off.
Sacking from the police force does not mean that they cannot re-join at a later date through appeals or be recruited by another police force.
May 30, 2020 at 3:56 am #203257AnonymousInactiveMalcolm X had said that the Second Amendment was a racist law which only allows white peoples to carry guns.
Many police officers have been off the hook after they have killed several black men, and they have used all kinds of legal technicality to free the police officers.
I can clean my arse with the bourgeoise constitution, the bourgeoise legal system, and with a degree in jurisprudence
Donald Trumps also authorized the National Guard to shoot the protestors and if they kill some of the protestors nothing is going to happen to them either
May 30, 2020 at 4:19 am #203258alanjjohnstoneKeymasterOne thing I have noticed is a news black-out on Ilhan Omar, who is the districts House of Representative member.
I would have expected the media to seek her out for her views but it has been very limited whereas her comments should be given blanket coverage. I don’t think it is because she is refusing interviews. I would guess that the media do not wish to give her any political exposure.
May 30, 2020 at 4:32 am #203259May 30, 2020 at 6:00 am #203264alanjjohnstoneKeymasterI saw that, Marcos, but I was really meaning the mainstream media is ignoring her…the likes of CNN, CBS and MSNBC. The BBC website has not used her for comment.
She has proposed a resolution asking the House of Representatives to condemn “police brutality, racial profiling and the excessive use of force”
From Fox News – “Our anger is just. Our anger is warranted,” she said of the feelings many are feeling over Floyd’s death. “And our priority right now must be protecting one another.” She added: “We should and must protest peacefully. But let us end the cycle of violence now.”
May 30, 2020 at 6:14 am #203265OzymandiasParticipantThe revolution will be dependent on the Nazi’s in the armed forces and police forces of every country in the world turning the other cheek to join the class war.
May 30, 2020 at 7:26 am #203266alanjjohnstoneKeymasterAnd is that an impossibility, Ozy?
Perhaps right now it can be seen as improbable, but circumstances change and situations become different.
One of my objections to violent protests (although I can sometimes understand and sympathise with the anger and fury) is that polarises the contending forces. One of our best weapons is peaceful civil disobedience, not bricks and bottles.
The tactics of nonviolence can be a frustrating but, nevertheless, popular, peaceful protests have the best chance of winning. Once enough people and organizations within a society (trade unions, community groups) are engaging in civil disobedience and withholding their cooperation, the power will gradually wither from political starvation.
Non-violent means will increase our chances of the police and the National Guard refusing to obey orders. But if you go over to violence, they will remain loyal to one another, perceiving a physical threat against themselves.
May 30, 2020 at 8:55 am #203267james19ParticipantThe latest update am:
According to posts on Facebook, a “rioter“ was filmed smashing a building’s front door and setting the building on fire…..is a police officer, according to his ex wife who was attacked by him. She has identified him.
Facebook, are removing the video? However, screenshots of the officer in riot gear, uniform have appeared. The mask the ‘rioter’ or it should be policeman is wearing is unusual as it has purple coloured filters?I remember the Anti-capitalism demonstration in the City of London. Staff in a bank were making offensive gestures at demonstrators. A few demonstrators throw objects at the windows….
In a Forum about the demo, one vile individual wouldn’t let up about how shocking these anti capitalist demonstrators are……vertically not stop.
I was trying to counter him and put socialist ideas out. It was a waste of time. Clearly this supporter of capitalism doesn’t believe in free speech.I haven’t seen or heard of the person since, maybe it was a bot, paid state stooge or just a sad pathetic person?
Twitter have wadded in against Trump. Regarding Trumps tweet: that rioters will be shot……
This Twitter says is in violation of its rules on glorifying violence.
Well done Twitter. -
