Starmer doesn’t seem to be Blair 2.0. He seems like he might actually be a vaguely reformist critic of capitalism, albeit rather a dull one… Still, it’s been quite entertaining to see so many self-proclaimed socialists departing the labour party, claiming it’s not a socialist party any more – as if it ever was!
Apparently when he was younger he was associated with some Trotskyists even if he might not have known that they were:

Loach’s offence, was the fact that he has denied that Labour is institutionally anti-Semitic and that he was somehow associated with a certain GMB union member who had been expelled for being critical of the IHRA definition, Peter Gregson.
I read some media articles on this internal report, but none was as brutal as this analysis. Some of us suspected it though.

Trying to make capitalism nicer is the most the Labour Party has always ever aspired to do but, when in office, has always failed to deliver as it’s undeliverable.

Labour has sacked three junior shadow ministers who joined with Jeremy Corbyn and 14 other Socialist Campaign group MPs in breaking the party’s whip by voting against the second reading of a controversial armed forces bill.
Nadia Whittome, Beth Winter and Olivia Blake defied the whip, which called on Labour MPs to abstain on the overseas operations bill. The legislation aims to introduce a presumption against prosecution for British soldiers serving abroad. The proposed presumption against prosecution applies to offences such as war crimes and torture and critics say it breaches international humanitarian law.
Apparently the future Labour Prime Minister, Sir Keith Starmer, really was a Trot in his youth. I thought it was just a rumour but it seems not:

I’d been thinking about the huge numbers of people who had joined the Labour party on the strength that Corbyn stood for the principles that they agreed with. Have there been any reports of them resigning in large numbers or are they more likely to just not renew membership? And – what difference would that make anyway?

Not only that but from his Wikipedia entry:
“Starmer married Victoria Alexander in 2007. She was previously a solicitor but now works in NHS occupational health. The couple’s son and daughter are being brought up in the Jewish faith of their mother and the family attend Shabbat dinners.”
Thought I would check up on who Sir Trevor Chinn was and this came up in his Wikipedia entry:
”Throughout his life he has also devoted himself to the Jewish community in Britain and supporting Israel in a number of roles, for example: chairman and President of the Joint Israel Appeal, the leading organisation in Britain supporting Israel’s humanitarian needs; board member of The Jewish Community Centre for London, President of Norwood from 1996 to 2006; one of the founders of the Jewish Association for Business Ethics (and now Vice-President). Sir Trevor currently sits on the Executive Committee of the Jewish Leadership Council and the Britain Israel Communications and Research Centre (BICOM)”.
I’m not sure what bringing his wife and children’s religion into things achieves.
Nor spotting up the perfectly normal and legitimate lobbying activity of a businessman. The class analysis is that the vast majority, Jewish and non-Jewish alike are locked out by this kind lobbying. If it wasn’t Chinn it’d be some other businessman because their power of the purse is required to get ahead in politics.
All governments and state actors lobby and influence other states: Churchill (beloved of the right) interfered in American politics to drag them into the war on the British side.
