Dear Editors
I read with interest (and amusement) the highly entertaining report (Socialist Standard, August 2019) of Lancaster Branch’s experiment in organising a social weekend in the Cumbrian countryside. Clearly, it seems to have been a great success and I commend the branch for their efforts. Increasingly, members or sympathisers of the Socialist Party only get to know each other in the rather artificial environment of cyberspace and it is good to learn of spaces being opened such as this in which individuals can interreact with each other in a more human face-to-face manner
Perhaps it might be useful to make something like this a regular feature of the Party calendar. Perhaps, two or three such events could be organised in different parts of the UK over the course of the year to facilitate maximum participation.
Yours for socialism
Robin Cox
