Weekly Worker refers to a Socialist Standard article by GT
“…Not to be outdone, the Socialist Party of Great Britain approvingly quoted Matthew Simmons, a former energy advisor to George W Bush: “Securing adequate oil supplies was … an important element in all the major wars of the 20th century and in the United States’ two most recent interventions in the Middle East.” The SPGB writer obviously agreed and added that oil is probably “about to reach its maximum rate of production”.
In the context of the article, it infers that we hold a Malthusian outlook.

As for control over oil being an underlying motive for Mid-East wars, i am not sure WW is challenging this.
Perhaps GT might like to respond. It is like when an MP refers to another in Parliaentary proceedings…they have the automatic right to reply.
