Historical Overview
The first Socialist Party of Canada
The first Socialist Party of Canada was founded in 1905 and although
sometimes unsound in its policies, was the home of some sound
socialists.
The Socialist Party of Canada
Several members of the old party went on to found the present
Socialist Party of Canada, on a sound theoretical basis, in June
1931, adopting the following Object:
The establishment of a system of society based upon the
common ownership and democratic control of the means and
instruments for producing and distributing wealth by and in the
interest of society as a whole.
The Socialist Party of Canada is a Companion Party in an
international organization of socialist parties, the World
